EBC still doesn't work

To start this off I have searched everyones problems with this topic. Still no go I checked my 12V source its actually like 13 but, shouldn't affect anything? Tried changing all my boost duty cycles to 0 and it still just stays totally closed, and hits the overboost protection no matter what I do? At first I thought it was just the insulator but braineak fixed that and still nothing. I also read where cjernigan had to make his opposite to work. Tried that also still nothing? What do I need to do? Any advice will be nice thanks guys

Corrupt firmware and/or msq will also cause EBC to not function. That was my issue a long while ago. Try new firmware and a new msq and see if that does anything.

Im not 100% sure how to load new firmware? And where do I get It? I had braineak load Hi-res so Ive never done it?

cjernigan 04-05-2008 08:38 PM

Oh geez. :)
Download the latest hi-res here: http://msextra.com/viewtopic.php?t=25336
Then easytherm it with the correct values and use easytherm to reflash the ECU. Unplug your coils if you're doing this in the car. Then load a new MSQ before reconnecting the coils. Once you have flashed the .s19 and loaded the msq you can connect the coils and not worry about that anymore.
To create a new msq, open megatune and select the new project folder when the window pops up. (Put the 10F folder in the "megasquirt" folder if you haven't already) Then copy all of the settings over for each window.
Or just get the firmware flashed and try your old msq first to see if that fixes it.

Does your boostDC gauge show any activiity?

wait Ive done that before oooops but I cant find that gauge I've tried to find it? The only place I can find a boost duty cycle gauge is under the tuning tab and that shows it changing but no affect? where is that gauge? under a different title maybe?

cjernigan 04-05-2008 08:52 PM

You just right click on any gauge in megatune and "replace to" boost duty cycle. If it's not there then you need to open up... i can't remember which one i think its the msextra.ini file. Then do a ctrl-f for boost and remove the ; from before boostdc.

cjernigan 04-05-2008 08:57 PM

Here is my thread on that topic.

What do I need to do to easytherm this file how do I get my old values? Im confused on this part?

yep that little ; was in front of the gauge so I fixed that thanks!

Open your thermfactor.inc file. the values for clt are in there matfactor should have the IAT values. Enter them in easytherm, select custom in the drop menu. Then select the right .s19 file for the hi-res firmware. Then flash the MS using easytherm.

Thanks alot man Your the Best Hopefully it fixes the EBC if not then I learned something new :)

I cant figure out how exactly to make a brand new msq and what do you mean by put the 10F folder in the "megasquirt" folder???
I reflashed it with the easytherm and It didnt fix the EBC so I'm trying to make an all new msq but I dont ever get a choice of new project?

turbobluemiata 04-08-2008 07:02 PM
