Engine dies when I push the clutch in
4 Attachment(s)
The problem I am having is sometimes my engine dies when coming to a stop when I push in the clutch. It only happens when everything is heatsoaked, like at the end of my 45 minute commute.
I installed a Skunk2 throttlebody the day before a dyno tune, and I am guessing this is the cause. Of course the problem started happening after I left the dyno. I am open to any suggestions, because I have tried everything I know. I am also attaching a cut down log. Car is a MSM, ECU is a PNPpro |
Don't know if it is your issue but when I had that problem, I was pinching the vacuum line to the megaquirt. It would kill the motor.

What procedure did you use to adjust the idle screw?

It is like I almost need a mechanical dashpot like on a NA6. Something to mechanically slow the throttle plate in it's last 10% of travel. |

I set the idle with the set screw on the Skunk2 TB. I recently backed out the bypass screw a ton, then lowered the idle back down with the throttle stop set screw. Which helped but it did not fix the problem.
I would lock timing at around 15 degrees and unplug the IAC valve. I'd then adjust idle speed using the idle screw to around 700 rpm with no load. Find the minimum and maximum range for your IAC valve. Then tweak closed loop idles settings as necessary. |
Thank you. I never thought of that.

Oh and a PSA to anyone who finds this on a search it was the Dashpot adder and Initial values table that cured it. Also the Skunk2 TB ships with the bypass screw all the way closed, so be sure to adjust that after you install the TB. |
