Hi all,

Got a problem with my DIYPNP 1.1
I've bought a EBC solenoid and I've wired it up and plumbed it in. However I'm unsure what's going on with it all (I'm mostly just pissing into the wind).

I've attached some pictures of my board and would like any advice?
As far as I can understand Pin 4 should be the pin I want to connect to my Boost solenoid ground, however Pin 4 is already being used for something (it goes into the loom somewhere?).


I even got desperate and tried bridging Pin 4 to my boost solenoid but to no avail. Can someone point out what I'm doing wrong or what I'm doing right here. Any help to get my boost solenoid working would be greatly appreciated.

Juding by you pics, yes, you wired boost control out to pin 4 of your DB15. If it is "already being used for something" then that's your own damn fault for wiring something else to your boost control output and not your boost solenoid.

Sadly I haven't wired it... Just been left with someone elses mess :(

Is there any way to figure out what they've wired the boost control circuit for? they've used PT6 as far as I can tell and could i not use the output from pin 4 as my boost ground or has someone wired the rest of the boost circuit up to do a completely different job? :/

I did indeed, yes. I'm now attempting to fit an EBC solenoid to it using Megasquirt to control it. Sorry for not clarifying.

yeah boost control should be setup to run on PT6. It's outputting to pin 4 of the db15. You need to either move to a different pin on the db15 and run a new wire out to the solenoid, or fix the wiring.

then it's all about setting up the parameters correctly in order to get it to work.

Cheers matey. So if I move the Boost out from Pin 4 to a pin of my choosing it should work? I'm still unsure what they've done with pin 4 but hey ho.

Should the solenoid activate when the ignition is on and during idle? (If I set up the boost duty table to try and boost at the lowest RPM?

I have a variable TPS on the car too - could that be what they've used Pin 4 for?

vTPS shouldn't need ot be wired through the DB15, if done correctly it should be wired into the stock wires at the TPS connector itself.

the solenoid should have a constant switched 12v, I like to use the blue 12v connector by the driver headlight, the MS supplies the PWM ground signal.

You want the solenoid to be 100% activated during spool-up and then run at the correct PWM% about 200-300RPM before your boost target threshold. I'd start with using closed loop mode with a table set at some arbitrary number to make certain the circuit is working, then work on tuning your closed loop PID.

One last question. If I have hooked the solenoid up to pin 4 (or whichever pin is from the out of boost control) And I get no ground, is it safe to assume my boost control circuitry is ballsed/is there any way to test if it's working correctly?


I can also trigger the output from the Output Port settings and get a ground that way however (I don't believe this needs to be touched and should in fact be left alone when activating boost control?)

use the PWM table, set it to 100% all across and you should shoot up to your overboost level of boost during spool.

this assumes it's: wired correctly, plumbed correctly, and the parameters in the control settings are correct.
