Default MS 1 with stock sensors??

So I have my harness, but all I need is a MS. I'm doin the parallel installation on my 99, so all I need MS to do is control fuel and timing. Can I use MS 1 to run my motor with the stock sensors? Or do I need an MS II?

as much talk as there is with using stock sensors on an NB engine, search man.

to answer your question, no you need MSII to use stock sensors.

MSI can not decode the wheel to on the 99+. MS2, you click "99-00 miata", and it does.

oh, forgot that stock sensor.

Interesting cuz when I ordered the MSI from DIY for the MSM they asked me if I wanted it set up for the NA CAS or would I be using the crank trigger. Maybe I misunderstood and they were going to sell me the MS2 if I wanted to use the NB trigger.

edit: Reread the email and they were offering to set it up for NA CAS or a 36-1 crank wheel. I stand corrected.

So is it possible for me to order an MS II from DIY and have it modded and ready to wire up? (For use with stock sensors of course)

For MS1 and NA, yes- they will happily do a Miata-specific build for you.

The last time I inquired (and it's been a few months so this may no longer be true) they didn't have an "off the shelf" mods package for MS2 / NB. This, as I understood, was primarily a function of demand- so far it hadn't been an issue, so they hadn't done the development and testing.

Given that the mods are reasonably well documented (though incorrectly in some places) I wonder if they might at least do one on an experimental basis? IOW- submit Abe's input circuit, and have them do the MS1/NA-style spark out circuit.

That is sort of a problem, though. Given that there's a good bit of incorrect documentation floating around and we have not been able to test the NBs out for ourselves, we still do not offer the mods completely built in house. There's nothing to stop you from buying one of our off the shelf units and adding the mods to it, but we need to be ready to support the mods that we install.

Yes, we are planning on getting an NB test car in here at some point. Right now we've got a couple other things tying up our R&D resources though.
