First autotune- Input appreciated

I had a tuner lined up and planned to get the car tuned this week, but they had some scheduling issues and I won't be able to get in til next week or later. I'm running time trials at Mid-Ohio this weekend. I'm going to try doing a super conservative tune on my own, so while I'd normally not make a post like this, I'd really like to not blow up my fresh 1.8 swap. I've been reading the megamanuals and trying to take in as much as I can, but it's a lot to take in in a short period of time. Already made a det can and have it on the engine and working.
Anyway, I got some stuff finalized in the engine bay late last night and drove the car with megasquirt into work this morning for the first time. I know my tune still needs a lot of work, but if anyone has some time to look through it and point me in a specific direction, I'd appreciate it. Basics: 2001 block 99 head 2001 injectors 99 throttle body No boosts  I still haven't got my idle valve functioning correctly, but that's low on my priority list at the moment. |
Datalog is too large. Working on getting it uploaded.

It appears you have the wrong required fuel (18?), and injector dead time (1?).
You should really read through this page to get a good foundation before you tune. It is very important to get required fuel correct, especially if you change injectors down the road. Its a bit of a read, but really should be mandatory. Its not hard to sit at your computer and plug in the values and change the settings you need as you read it. It also immensely helps to understand what is going on when you change those values, as the guide explains. Getting the correct Injector dead time can also make your car idle a whole lot better. Make sure to turn off barometric correction and MAT correction for initial tuning. Im also a bit of a novice at tuning, but this is how I started, anyhow. |
Doh. Forgot to turn off mat and baro correction. Thanks.
Reqd fuel is something I struggled with. I tried using the tunerstudio calculator with the 84cc/min number that marren injector service gave me, but it gave me a huge number that made initial startup a bitch until I realized how whack that number was. |
Heres a page with info on your injectors. They shouldnt be 84cc. Make sure you are using the right units when calculating required fuel. Use CC for displacement (1800), and cc/min for injectors (265cc I believe for 2001). Plugging this in gives me a required fuel of 11.4.
Also, your injector opening time should be .8 This is what I've used for my stock tan-top injectors, which were 265cc as well. |

If you are new to MS, then it is very easy to waste money at the dyno when you don't understand all of the MS settings. Make sure you use someone that really uderstands MS if YOU don't. |
autotune factors in enrichments bros.
req_fuel is fine, just makes the VE fuel table smaller numbers. his junk is fine. if you change the req_fuel from 18 to 11.4, then I suggest you multiple the entire ve fuel table by 1.57. |
Sweet. That's the way I understood it. Since my starting point was someone else's fuel map with different injectors, I basically just adjusted my reqd fuel number until the car idled and drove decent enough.

Did some more tuning last night and made a log on the way in to work this morn. The engine feels really strong, but the software I'm using to listen to hte det can is giving me shitty results so I still can't listen for knock very well.
