Flashed HR10G to MSPNP, small issue with misfires
1 Attachment(s)
Flashed HR10G to my MSPNP about an hour ago. Went through the MSQ page by page, set it up correctly, fired up on the 2nd keyturn (after I plugged the coils back in :bang: ). The control is incredible; I've never been able to get my car to idle this lean.
I seem to be getting a soft-cut rev limiter through most of the range, though, with the occasional blip. Any ideas? There isn't a whole lot of documentation on HR10G for the MSPNP specifically, although I did see Matt/Jerry mentioning something about a .1uF cap somewhere? Feel free to just link me to something too. Edit: MSQ added. |
yeah, my car would do that a lot on the standard code. After the cap mod it would not do it at all... for a few thousand miles, it started doing it again, and shortly after awhile the car would not run at all, and it turned out to be a bad CAS, so there are at least two things that can cause this problem. More than likely, the cap mod will solve it, It's standard on the new PNP's now I believe.
Check this thread on it here: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/sho...hlight=Cap+mod |
oops hit refresh

yes search .1uf, you'll see where and why you need to install one.

Fuck, my ECU is a bitch to get to and I really don't feel like soldering on it. >:/
|
A bitch to get to in a '94? Or do you have it in a non-stock location? Just curious... cuz I thought behind pax seat was something to be grateful for...
|
fixed momos don't help getting behind that seat do they? Good luck dude your the ginniepig!

Check the sticker on the underside of the MSPNP - if it identifies it as a Rev C, it already has the cap mod. It sounds like you have an earlier one that lacks the mod.

Im running HR10g on my 94 MSPNP so we can share some experiences. BTW, The ECU is behind the passenger the kicker panel (EU/German car).
What sort of idle AFR are you looking at, at idle? I'm running around 14-ish but it jumps alot (untuned). |
.1uf or larger cap between JS8 and Ground in the proto area.

Matt, I've never understood why this seems to be more of a problem for people when they migrate to the HR codebase. I just don't see what part of the wheel decoder would be more vulnerable. Do you guys have any inside intel on this?

Cap installed (for everyone else, ceramic capacitors do NOT have polarity, doesn't matter which lead goes where), car is tuned to about 11psi right now. Misfires are gone. I cannot believe how smoothly it runs. Even my roommate (crashnscar) who was manning the laptop commented on how good it SOUNDED.

Good to hear you got it solved!
Video's before/after? |
