flooding when hot

I recently purchased a 1992 turbo Miata. The previous owner installed and configured the mspnp in 2009. The firmware is MSnS-extra format 029q.

The car was in an accident and I am rebuilding it. The car runs ok for the most part. There is an idling issue to get to. However, when the car is hot after driving it will not restart for maybe 30 minutes to an hour. The engine cranks and I can smell fuel. The sparks are firing.

Here are links to some data logs and the msq https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx...FF355C0D68!126

One log is during my 15 minute drive and the other is trying to start it a few minutes later. RPMs are being detected during crank some I'm guessing it is not the CPS. The PO said the car did not have this issue before, so I wouldn't think I would need to retune.

I'm still learning megasquirt and tunerstudio. I'm surprised how complex it is. I have not had any luck with megatune.

I think I need to adjust the hot cranking pulse, but I'm really not sure how to do that or what settings to use

Let me know if that is the right thing to try or if there are other suggestions.

Thanks!
Travis

I have doubt your calibrations are setup correctly.

your MAT shows 170*F and VLT is flat at 200.

PW is 7.4 when cranking...judging by your REQ_FUEL I'm assuming 550cc injectors? WAY too much fuel during cranking. At that clt temp you need like 1.9-2.1ms of cranking PW.

Your map is setup for cranking table based of MAT (should be CLT)...but at 170°F, you'd be injecting 3.1ms at that temp...so something is not kosher.

Thanks Braineack. The injectors are 460cc. Honestly, I don't know what half of what you said means. I'll read the glossary some more and see what I can figure out.

Do you mean CLT, not VLT, is flat? Should CLT and MAT be equal?

The crank table only goes to 160(as far as I can tell). If I change it from MAT only to CLT only do I need to redo the PW for all temps?

Thanks!

He is suggesting that the calibrations for the coolant and air temp sensors are incorrect and needed to be corrected. Without proper calibrations trying to tune anything more will be shooting in the dark

Make sure both IAT and CLT are connected, make sure they have proper calibration setups and Find out the IATs location in the setup.

Thank you! I appreciate your help. I still have a little ways to go but here's an update.

Yesterday I reset the LC1 just for good measure since it had not been done since the PO installed it. I noticed AFR ranges from 7-21 and is erratic sometimes bouncing up and down quickly.

I just checked the MAP setting and it is reading ~100 when the car is turned on but not started.

I did install a new CLT last week. Although I'm not sure how you would calibrate it. It just screwed right in.

I'm also not sure how you would calibrate the IAT. I've only spent a few minutes researching it so far, so maybe I'll find out.

The IAT and CLT are connected and registering data in the datalogs.
