FM 36 -2 tooth wheel with Microsquirt 3

Can anyone suggest what the settings should be for using the FM 36-2 wheel?

We converted my 1600 to use the wheel and sensor rather than the cas.

The FM instructionsn (for the Hydra) say 80 degrees but my engineer has tdc'd the motor and counted 15 teeth to the sensor which would be 150 degrees.....

Car wont start at 80, I haven't been back to reset the ecu to 150 to try but would rather KNOW the setting rather than randomly trying different ones!! :)

What are you using for a cam sensor signal?

Hi Reverent.

We have removed the cam angle sensor and just using the crank sensor from an 1800 nb.

That will only allow you to run batch injection and wasted spark ignition, are you ok with that?

How did you mount the sensor and wheel on your 1600?

If it is equal to stock then for the time being yes. I am hoping once the car is running to get the MS2 back to you and have it modified for the timing wheel pickup AND the digital AFM input....(and whatever other "magic" you might suggest  )

After a string of bad luck and weird failures, one of my donor motors (my latest one) is a 2001 (maybe 2003.. I forget now) 1600. It has the NB style oil pump cover with the pickup mount already on it.

It also does away with the Hydraulic lifters and "seems" to have better head porting amongst other "potential" improvements. Not that that was the reason for the purchase, we just needed a 1600 motor as quickly as possible for the last race meeting and that was all that they had.

Now we are in the process of tidying up a few things...like the extension to the cam for the CAS drive that broke off due to a to tight "clearance fit"...in most cases the motor would just stop but in this case it broke off then re attached itself on the splinters of the weld about 40 Deg advanced and melted another set of pistons!:vash:
