Default I'm stoked I could ******* scream!

Ok, so for those following my thread, (https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...rt-94-a-76873/) the last thing did was install a Megasquirt in prep for my FM turbo install. I then figured the next logical thing to do was swap the stock injectors for the the FIC 650cc injectors and tune for that. Once those puppies were in, the car ran like ****. I mean, it literally felt like a missfire. At higher rpm, it seemed fine, but low-mid it really sucked.

After reading all the stuff about upgrading to larger injectors, PWM setting and all that, I just thought some setting was off. But I did due justice by reducing required fuel by % percentage as well as PWM idle, after start enrichment and cranking... so I didn't feel I was going into this blindly.

I then swapped back to the old stock injectors and it ran like a champ....not perfect, but not like a missfire. Swapped back to the FICs, I then mucked around with the pwm setting and all that. Last time I was in the car, smoke start coming from the CAT because it was glowing red. Not good!!! Figured I was rich, but really???

Pulled the FICs out and said **** it for now and was going back to the stock injectors until I could wrap my head around it. After putting the stock injectors back in, started the car back up and the started smelling gas... oh ****! I had a frigging leak from the injector and gas was all over the garage floor. At this point, I was like, ok lets deal with this now! I put the FICs back in and started doing checks.

Had some of this, figuring it was going to be a long night, but ready to take on a challenge.

I checked for injector resistance in case I didnt get high impedance for some reason. Then after connecting the injectors back up and restarting it, I pulled the injector pigtail adapters off each injector. Low and behold, #1 didn't change after pulling off the pigtail adapter. I discovered the below.

Yeah, botton one looks fishy...

Ok, far right adapter is missing some pins...wtf!!!???

This is a bit better, after cutting heatshrink and re-inserting pins which were retracted. The pins must have retracted when I first installed them.

Needless to say, that fixed it, and the car purrs like a kitten now. Lessons learned, I should have looked immediately into the missfire, but was already biased from reading all the PWM setting stuff...

Anyway, onward with a turbo install this weekend And yes, rest of cognac is going down!!!

It's all about figuring it out for yourself sometimes.
Good job getting through it.
