Default What injectors?

What injectors should I be shopping for?

1.6 stock block, getting a MS soon and than turbo, maybe 12psi using a 190lph pump. I do want idle quality. So I guess the question is whats the biggest injectors I can use with out sacrificing the idle?

Check the DIY FAQs in the DIY section of the forum. There is a list of injectors that are plug-n-play with the Miata. With megasquirt, there are plenty of people here using up to 550cc injectors with good idle. I have a set of 430cc that I will be using.

You will probably run out of room by 700 or so cc/min My 550's work just fine. A set of 430's or 460's will probably give you all the fuel you want for a good while then when you are ready to turn it up find something bigger. What about your puny Differential or your 5 speed that doesn't like more than 250 lbft. Or the laughable stock clutch do you have those under control? The motor is by far the stoutest component in your car.

New guy here, so be easy.

Got MS coming soon. Thats 1st, than install injectors and get them running right. Install fuel pump. Upgrade the clutch and flywheel and keep a lookout for a used turbo kit. When the rear goes I'll replace it. I see there priced crazy high, so I'll keep and eye out for a good deal.

So thats the plan, what you think?

I have built many other projects over the years so I'm not new to them just Miatas. The 12psi estimate is at the high I just try to build thing right...once.

Currently for sale is a nice LT1 T-56 RX-7 TII. www.myspace.com/lt1rx7

It's all good man i just wanted to make sure you had a plan 12 psi is a decent power hit but no where near high you will be just fine.

Well the 160 lph fuel pump we run stock could be weak by now but still even when healthy it will only support about 320 or so bhp.

gotta quick question, i was putting my turbo on but now im going to wait until winter because its to much work for now but i already put bigger injectors in 550cc ones and i turned my car on and the idles fucked, its jumpy, i have an AFPR should i put that on and adjust the fuel pressure and it will send more fuel?? or do i have to get an ECU to tune them so it idles, or should i just put the stock ones back on for now until i put my turbo back on with a MS??

Yea I figure the 15 year old pump is on its last leg, and I don't need it failing under boost.

As far as the rears go, there crazy expensive for stock replacement units. I can build a Ford rear for $500 that will support 1000hp! Kicker is I have two extra Rx-7 rears @ my house but there of off turbo cars and I hear they won't fit...sux.

PS: It heart I'm a Mustang guy and the fuel pump 5.0's came with was a 87lph pump. Why the hell does mazda use a 160? lol

So you are trying to run 550's without a MS??? If so then that is your problem install the MS and run the 550's NA or, Reinstall the OE injectors. MS just needs to be tuned.

Want to see the fuel pump on the Mustang in my garage?

Yes thats AN-12 fuel lines (1/2" makes a garden hose look small).

rewire the stock pump and it's fine for 350 no worries.

you don't need uprated fuel pumps, just size the injectors right. and seriously how many people are gonna hit 320?

yeah fair enough it's your choice.

There's a guy in the UK, Steve Willington, he has an FM stroker and a disco Potato, he shot for and hit 400bhp.

stock fuel pump

and for the record this guys motto is buy cheap buy twice, so if he felt the car needed a stronger pump, he'd have bought one

keep the stock pump for now. if you plan on replacing a 190lph is fine.

I think getting the smallest injector that will support your goal is best.

What rx-7 rears do you have?
