I have the built engine back in the car, just need to finish hooking up wires/hoses. Do the targets in the attached pic look pretty good? Want to make sure I tune it right this time. If not, please spell out what targets I should change.

Another quick question, for a full forged 1.9l 9.6:1 engine, what is a good safe max boost target for a 2560? I was thinking in the 16-18 psi range.

Thanks,

Jason

So, after looking at what the table generator created, and some of the feedback that was received, I made a few more tweaks to my targets:

Did I make a mistake? Should I go back to what I had?

Those targets look safe.

It is also safe practice to tune with incorporate afr target enabled and an initial afr table that has 14.7 in the leanest cells and 11.3-11.5 in the medium to high boost cells. Then, AFTER tuning with VEAL you can go back and lean out parts of the target table to increase fuel economy. However, this is for only for the paranoid crowd.

Looks a tiny bit rich in the NA sections. 14 afr at 80kpa is fine. 15afr at 60kpa up to about 4k rpm.

Thanks.

How about max boost when the time comes, is 18psi safe for a 2560 on a full forged engine?

Thanks,

Jason

Depends.

What the bottom end cares about is torque, so you'll have to judge how much boost to run based upon the torque you generate. A lousy exhaust or too small turbo will raise the pressures throughout the flow path but not generate a lot of torque. OTOH, a large turbo with a nice 3" ARTECH can generate a lot of torque at much lower boost.

The other thing that limits boost is detonation, so make sure you're tuning with a nice set of det cans.

99 head with oversize supertech valves and mazdaspeed intake cam, flyin Miata manifold and full 3" exhaust (also their intercooler and piping), 2560 turbo.

Bottom end is race bearings, Carrillo rods, supertech 84mm turbo pistons, and arp main/head studs.

Think I should stick with 16 psi limit, or can it handle a little more?

Thanks,

Jason
