HELP! electrical malfunction

I have a 1999 turbo miata and I was driving down the road today when my gauges started somking and my windshield wipers went crazy and they were not turned on....then my main fuse melted down. I am runing DIYPNP. What the hell could have caused this? The only thing I could think of is that I have a major short in my power wire form the battery....Any help would be appreciated!

Chassis to engine ground!

Thanks I will check that and and test it. I dropped the motor in it about two weeks ago, and i made sure to secure it tightly. Should I make a new ground and attach it to a different location?

You can never run too many ground straps.
I've killed a number of things using a poor grund strap connection...

Just try with a jumper cable between engine and chassis to see if you notice a difference.

How are you getting power for your gauges?

I tapped into my ignition harness wires to get power to the gauges. I pulled the fuse from the gauge, and it was toast.

I did this once back when I was 16. That was a very, very long month.

I'd check those wires and make sure you didn't short anything. Check to see if it rubbed anywhere, or got smashed and the insulation broke. Not sure where the wiper motors get power from, but a short could have turned that on.
