Help programming ms
I had someone helping install my ms and program it, and now they don't seem to have the time to help me anymore. When I go to install the firmware on the ms, it give me an error code expected "boot" recieved "" . Can anyone help me figure out what this means, and how i could correct this problem.
Thanks |
Try reloading the firmware again, but this time tell it you're upgrading from standard MS1 code (press Y) and use the boot jumper.

ms still not working
I tried to reinstall the firmware saying i'm upgrading from a standard ms1 firmware, and it still doesn't work. Its says:
src\download.exe -c3 msns-extra.s19 MS Download 1.10 Expected response "Boot>" but recieved this "" If anyone has any ideas, please help. Oh, he had set it up to work with his computer before, which it did, so I know the ms works. It also would start and run the car, but i need to tune it badly. |
did you put the jumper in place?
Yes, the jumper was in place. When the ms is connected to my computer and the car is in the run position, the two outside lites are lit, but the center one is not. Is this correct?
Be sure the jumper is firmly in place - sometimes it can be loose and fail to put the MS into bootloader mode.
You know you got it when the LEDs fail to light...
ok, we'll try that. i'll also try to remove and install the ms software and downloader. any other suggestions will help. Thanks

Plug the fuel pump fuse back in =P
Ok, I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, followed the instructions and still come up with the same error every time, i'm beginning to think its the ebay usb to serial cable i've got. I think im going to track down a new cable with working software.
and the boot jumper was installed?
Yes, the boot jumper was installed properly. As a reminder this ms did work with the other guys computer. Also to let you know, I have a greddy turbo kit w/intercooler, 440cc turbo supra injectors, and a aem wideband o2.
has anyone heard of this error code before?
It usually means either the MS is not powering up or it is not going into bootloader mode.
Get a real serial cable, that's your issue.
try removing the CPU and pushing back in good and solid, sometimes I even take a precision screwdriver across all the contacts to make sure they are making a good solid connection.
I've actually sent a CPU back to Matt to test and found it was good, when i got it back same crap, but it turns out one of the contacts wasn't making a good connection. |
