Talking I'M squirting.!!

I'M squirting.!!

Yesterday I instaled the last things and setup LC-1 output.
I grab the fire extinguer, and turn the key, and I hear one ĦBANG! in the hood. run to see and noting. only smell gas, but no smoke or fried plastic odor.
Well, I closed the eyes and turned the key again ... and the engine start .!!!!

The car are not runing fine, but runing. The best thing for me is that I started the car 3 times.! (before MS, I used to unplug the injenctors to start engine again).

Today I realize that I forget attach the presure line. Megasquirt sense 0 presure instead of vaccum. -> bad idle but running iqual.!!

The only problem is the CLT temperature. Its reads 32°C and that's imposible. (Car parked one week at 15°C)

Any idea to solve that?
I used aussie numbers (Mazda CLT), 1540 bias, remove R7,please help.!!

If you're not sharing the sensors with the factory computer, you can use the same values as the MSPNP.

I had the same problem. I think its 97 maybe 96 specific.

Read this: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18080

You just need an extra ground on your MS harness. Add a wire from 3O on the boomslang side of the MS harness to the two grounds on the boomslang side of harness. This was affecting the TPS and O2 as well.

Of course I am running stand-alone, but I don't see it being any different if you are running parallel.

If you are running parallel, then the factory ECU is supplying a pullup for the CLT sensor. Thus, you must remove R7 from the MS.

If you are running standalone, or using a dedicated CLT sensor, then R7 must be installed.

If you mean the extra ground wire, you wouldn't need it for a parallel install. It's just a ground that happens to pass through the ECU on later cars. If the ECU is still there, the ground is still passing through it, so life it good.

So why would it make two bangs before actually starting up? I am going to trying and install a MS soon, but have no idea what I am doing, and if I hear bangs before I get it started I am going to be so sad.

Too much fuel in the line.

You need to setup your cranking settings like this so that is doesn't inject the priming pulse with key on but after 2 secs. The MS fires the coils when you turn the key on so if you inject fuel at the same time then it backfires sometimes. So set the priming pulse up as shown here:

Another thing that will make it backfire is if you are injecting too much fuel in your priming pulse or if you were idling too rich just before shutting the car off and there is residual fuel in the cylinders.
So change you cranking setting, lean out your idle, and enjoy your MS.

TANX. cjernigan. I'm sure that's the reason for the BANG.!!!
I will post more info about progress, now I'm delayed because LC-1 is going crazy.
(Only for MS signal, the gaugue reads ok.)

I hope was only a wire disconnected and not the PITA ground.
and for the CLT readings, I think that I have to measure the sensor with ice, boiled water, and other thing in the middle, to find the scale myself. Some time ago my mechanic change the sensor, but I not sure that is "mazda brand". By the way, I can´t move CLT with Megastim POT.

UPDATE:

I Solved most of the problems!
- The BANG was the fuel smashing the FPR.
- The bouncing AFR was beacuse the O2 cable was touching other cable.
- The weird AFR (after bouncing) was because I have the stock O2 narrow signal and the WB singal in the same wire to the MS. the resultant value is the combination of the both signals :S. I have to tune using the gauge with a friend (old style) but it was fun.
- I corrected the timing I have +22,5° .!!!
- I Corrected warmup and aceleration problems.
- I Tuned the MS to get AFR 12:1 at 10 PSI.

Things to fix:
- CLT problem is still there. (I tried even numerical analisis to find the numbers for easy term, but still have diferences. I'm goint to do the "extra ground".
- Bouncing MAP reads. I will replace some lines of presure of cheap material to a better one, and find some restrictors to install.

I have the other car in the garage so I using miata to dayly drive and to do some ocasional WRX kill. Everything runs fine and I'm very happy.

It was hard, because I knew nothing about the MS or turbo setup. I learn a lot of this experience.

Thanks all of you for all the suport in this proyect and specially from braineak for the usefull information in other threads, made for noobs like me.

Why is the stock narrowband O2 sensor connected at all?

I guess is a remaining for the first turbo setup of my car. (FPR + apexi AFC + O2 clamp).
I don´t like many things of that setup, so I install a MS and put a WB in another location. but the orginal NB O2 is still there.

In that case, just disconnect the NB sensor, and you should be able to use the wideband properly with the Megasquirt.

It's done. The NB signal go to the ECU and the WB go directly to the MS. (Initialy I used to take the O2 signal from the boomslang (NB) to the megasquit too )

My car is the first, at 7 PSI, in a trip with our miata club.
