Okay, i flashed to HR and it fixed my surging idle problem, my intake backfire problem, my bucking problem and the car starts INSTANTLY. I mean, we are talking cranking for less than 1 second to start cold, warm, hot whatever, this thing fucking starts. The only thing now is the miss. I picked up the capacitor yesterday and i will be putting it in tonight or tomorrow. Is there a positive and negative to the capacitor?

They are well marked :-) (assuming we are talking about an electro or tantalum)
Only tant and electro are polarised. |
|
Those are fine so long as you keep the voltage below max, or preferably below 75% or so of max. They aren't polarised. The are just ordinary ceramic disk caps. See if you can get X5R? X7R? mono ones, they are quite a bit better quality and are usually smaller and blue. (not that it matters, and those will work if a cap will work at all)
Is there a reference about this hyped "cap mod" ? caps can do good and bad things depending on where you put them. |

So far so good. Did the hi-res update and added a cap to the MS. Also added the 10k cap to my COPs.
Smoother idle, feels smoother everywhere. Tune was close enough that a few logs and MLV and its all back to normal. Very pleased. |
Palmlog and HiRes?
Does anyone know if Palmlog will work with the HiRes release (I am running 10g)? (if so, what settings are used for configuration?)

Sorry for the revival:
I had installed HR code on my MAF system and it went wonderfully. Now i am eliminating the MAF and my "MSPNP MM9495 without MAF" folder does not have a "src" folder in it. I was about to copy the msns-extra.s19 into that folder and well, it doesn't exist. Is that supposed to be that way? Every other folder for 90-93 and 94-95 has it. Thanks guys. |
Yes, just copy the src folder. ;)

No, don't just copy the source folder. That source folder contains files specific to MAF calibrations. You need the without MAF inc files for the GM sensor.
Be sure to set up the MSQ for your car as it's currently set up for my timing, my size injectors(460s), my COPs(dwell times), etc. |
Sorry, I should been more clear. You can copy the existing inc folder (which has the flashing software you need) to your "MSPNP MM9495 without MAF HI RES 10G" (or whatever foldername you want to call it) folder, then import/unzip/copy the high res files for your specific application to that folder (see the file paul attached).
|
Thanks Paul. So forgive my ignorance, but if i take your folder and copy the MSPNP9495 base map and reload the firmware I should have a fresh map but all the files and highres info I need?
Also, I tuned for my 550's on the old w/MAF msq. Is there any way to bring those settings over or do i need to hand write them down. Sorry, but I am still very new to the MSPNP. |
Yes, that is my complete working folder. You can copy that to your laptop, disconnect your coils, and run the download-firmware.bat to flash the HiRes-10g firmware to your 9495MSPNP.
You should be able to load your existing MSQ into firmware version 10G without fatal errors. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. You can at least export your VE, Spark, AFR target tables etc. as vex files and import them into the diy base map. |

hate to drag up an ancient thread but I'm trying to figure my idle problem out with big injectors(550cc or higher) and MS-1.
I currently have 460cc rx7 Hi-Z injectors and 660cc High-Imp injectors and my idle and cruise is freakin insane inconsistent and loads up on fuel when the 660's are used. the 460's idle great but dont have enough fuel supply for the power i want. the reason i drag this OLD AZZ thread up is 2 things 1: what functions will i loose when i convert to hi-res code 2: what cap and where does it have to be installed setup: car: ford escort wagon 1.8L bp 9:1 pistons forged h-beam rods, pnp head w/ Somender grooves XSPower t3 top-mount turbo manifold t3 63 hot .50 cold 97 miata coilpacks using wasted spark KV85 magnecor plug wires ms1 3.0 (not plug n play) but wired same as 97 miata hks ssqv 4 BOV XSPower FMIC 3" exhaust 2.5" Innercooler piping EBC 14psi spring on external WG walbro 255lph pump AFPR rx7 red-top 460cc injectors(currently installed) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1394677494 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1394677494 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1394677494 |
You need hi-rez code. There are no downsides if you are using those rx7 460's, with hi-rez code the only "downside" is that you lose the ability to run low-z (non oem style) injectors.
However, that said - you should also upgrade from those terrible EV1 style injectors that you have if you want to get your idle steady. Get at least ID injectors, or at the very least some DW. |
