High idle problem after installing Megasquirt pnp2

My 1996 miata won't idle normally. It idles at 3k when i'm driving and about 2.5k after start up. I don't know much about megasquirt but other than the idle problem it runs pretty well. I've tried adjusting the idle control valve and it doesn't help. I've also tried messing with a bunch of idle settings and nothings seems to work. Also when I turn my key to the on position the throttle position gauge starts climbing until it hits 100% about 30 seconds later. It doesn't like to start when its above 50%. I'm at a dead end so any suggestions will be appreciated.

Sorry about that man, I just installed MS2 in my 1990 1.6 and I'm having some issues with high idle as well (1200-1400, not 3k anymore lol). I probably don't know much more than you about tuning, but I'll tell you what I've gathered from reading idle threads for the past week. I am tuning a 1.6, so things might be a little different on your 1.8.

Anyways, I'll assume 2 things:
- Your car idled fine on the stock ecu- You've verified your base timing with a timing light

If those are true, then I would isolate any variables that affect idle. If I understand this correctly, your car should idle around 1k rpm at operating temp without any ICV. Physically unplug your ICV, and in "idle control", select "none". See how it runs after that. If it's better, it's either a tune thing or your ICV is bad.

I don't know much about TPS, because megasquirt doesn't even use the useless 1.6 one for tuning, but did you calibrate it? Also, see what happens if you turn TPS off in settings.

Research is your friend, and one day we'll all get that perfect idle we dream of...

Just my 2¢.

Where do I begin?

First off, what's your setup (stock or modded, and if modded, what mods)? Did it idle okay before adding the MS? Are you using a canned basemap? Have you checked for air leaks? Are you using the stock TPS?

The fact that your TPS signal drifts says there's a serious problem that needs to be addressed.

It's hard to give advice with so little information.

Starting from the idea that if you had a bone stock '96 Miata and a new unmodified PNP2 for a '96 Miata then it ought to plug & play, what's non-standard about your setup?
