How do you run your vacuum lines?
 

I'm in the process of putting in my new MS3x, but all my vacuum lines are disconnected from my intake manifold. I can't remember how they were routed, so does anyone have any pictures (or could someone take some?) of where they tapped in for the MS vacuum signal. Also, routing of all the other vacuum lines would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I can get this sorted out and running tomorrow!

iirc:
- map signal always good to get from the back end of the IM
- do not share map signal with any other lines (boost gauge, etc)
- others can take care of the other vacuum line question. i'd just search for underhood pics or motor pics. never fails

tap the FPR line like it says in my instructions for the MAP sensor in the MS.

I see no reason you cant share it with any other source, my boost gauge runs off the same line as well.

sorry to thread jack, but seeing as someone else is having this dilemma of vac routing:

Thinking about moving the FPR line to the rear of the manifold and T'ing off the MAP and Boost of the former FPR source.

I do have a begi 2 port vac distribution block installed in the brake booster line, which I'm not too keen of. Anyone have problems with that before? I want to just get rid of it and source my wastegate off the manifold

I read that, but there wasn't a picture of where to tap. I was wondering what the little box was with a line running from the FPR to the IM and if I should tap in between that, remove it, or what.

A little clarification, please (my install into 2000 normally aspirated Miata will start tomorrow). I have a capped connection on the front of intake manifold. it's always been capped, not sure what it's for originally. I also have a connection where (now removed) cruise control was attached at the back of the intake manifold.

Is one preferable to another for vacuum line connection?

either will work for vac line, but the rear one is better to get map signal from.
something about turbulence right after the tb

if you think the turbulence is bad at TB, try using the rear port (auto trans port on #4)...

So... use the front?

BTW, I might be using a Euro flat top intake manifold (have not decided yet).

This is what I did. Got rid of that solenoid and just connected the FPR right to the manifold. Then ran a line from the middle of the IM to the MS and teed in the boost gauge as well. Then ran a different line from my IM to my boost gauge and wastegate.

Haven't started up the car yet because my laptop and TunerStudio won't detect my MS. Not sure if the red lights are supposed to light up when it's in accessory position, but it won't connect.

Sorry, I do not know what FPR is and what the solenoid there does. What do I need to remove to get there? ow will it affect the regular operation of the car of regular ECU has to be plugged in (it'll have to periodically)?

I believe the solenoid has to do with boiling fuel or something on a hot restart. Not quite sure. But I know people with MS have removed it, so I did. Hopefully that set up will work, like I said, I haven't started the car yet. Kinda stuck.

You guys are overcomplicating things. Do it like Brain says: Tee off of the FPR solenoid vacuum line. Once you get it inside the cabin, tee it off again to your boost gauge if so desired.

I've attached a pic. It's the bright blue hose. This is on a 97, but all years should be similar.

My DIYPNP is under the passenger side foot rest. The blue hose goes through an unused hole in the passenger side firewall.

I have one other free nipple (red circle). I'm wondering if I chose the best one for MAP. I'm maybe considering to t them together for a more accurate and stable signal.

One-niner, the rear nipple on your pic (red circled) is the port where cruise control was plugged into on my car.

If I understood Brian correctly above, he says that there is a lot of turbulence there. Maybe he will clarify. I plugged my own vacuum hose to the same port as you show right behind the TB. The car started and idled today (yea!).
