i feel like i'm losing it...

so, i had to reformat my tuning laptop, which means i need to reinstall megatune. i am running the 029v firmware in the car right now, so i want to get megatune set up with that for the time being.
now, i barely remember setting it up last time, so i feel like i'm losing my mind right now. reading the "software installation" post, in step 2, i see the following 2) Then run the "edit-settings" application and make the following changes there is no "edit settings" app... there's the configurator... i want to edit settings.ini in the "car1" directory, right? after making the "unset" and "set" change i get the attached error. i'm sure i got the 029v directory from sourceforge... is this maybe because i dont' have an ECU to connect to? bleh. like i said, i feel like i'm losing it because this shouldn't be that hard. :fawk: |
you get that error because like you said, no MS is attached. Its looking for the MS to send the same signal thats in the "expected" row.
well, yeah.. but i have 029v on the MS in the car... that's part of teh reason i'm confused...
so the MS is on and plugged into the laptop when you get that?
no no no. i don't have the car right now, i'm just tryin to get it all loaded up before i go pick the car back up tonite.
It looks like you've got it set for the wrong COM port, probably a fake COM port that echos back whatever symbol you send it.
hmm, i hadn't thought of that. the fact that the 029v files i have say soemthing about 029q isn't a big deal, though?

heh. that just doesn't feel right, though. lol
They only change the INI files when they change the code enough that the old INI files can't talk to it. 029q through 029v use the exact same INI files.

gotcha. sounds fair enough. well, hopefully i can mess with the com port (i think if i remember correctly i had to do that anyway to get it to work with the USB adapter anyway) and not have nay other problems. though i suppose this would be as good a time as any to upgrade to hi-res code, huh?

just go to control panel, then hardware. You should get a list of all the hardware connected to your computer, includeing what come port the computer is reading the serial to usb connector as.
