Braineack MS install
I have a 1.6 - I bought this off of someone who has his ECU built by Braineack... I wanted to double check my steps for now...
1. download Software package from diyautotune.com
2. download easytherm
3. follow the steps in "ausie..." to adjust the easytherm.
3a. Am I correct in only changing the CLT settings because I am using a mazda CLT rather than a GM CLT? Everything else stays the same? (other than changing something to "custom" and the port#)?
4. write to the file
5. write to the MS?
6. After that...upload the .msq file (basemap off of the mspnp.com website for a 1.6L w/o AFM).
Am I missing anything? (and of course... unplug the ignitor for any burning/flashing/etc.)

Use 1280 for CLT and 1450 for AIT for the bias. GM default values for the AIT and RX7 default values for the CLT.
it would be smarter to follow my writeup than someone else's....

i meant to get back to your PM. you'll need a base map too.

is the basemap off of mspnp ok?
I checked out your thread before and essentially got lost - what are the rx7 defaults... and what are the gm defaults?
and... could I download the bundle from diyautotune (where I can choose the hires) instead of the earlier mt and hr_10g?

That will probably work. My writeup is a touch old, although i did just update the wiring harness diagrams last night!
RX7 Defaults for CLT:
-4F 16200
68F 2450
176F 320
GM Defaults for AIT
-4F 28681
86F 2238
210F 177
if you use the PNP basemap, turn off output 2, and under codebase and outputs change water inj to fan control. then under outputs34/fan you can set the fan temp.
then it should work as is....

oh dear... how do you do that last portion you just explained...
and as a side note...
am I uploading the firmware first and THEN uploading the basemap? and is uploading the basemap something as simple as file > open > basemap... burn?
and... was the TPS wired for anything special... or is it wired up for the stock TPS (my helper was asking me)?

oh wait, is there a basemap bundled into the http://www.megasquirtpnp.com/downloa...tup_021108.exe ? If so, would this one require the changes that you specified in post #4?

I just bought this from him to install on my car.
I have a couple of ?
One I was going to use the stock air flow sender. Does that change anything. Can I use the base map on the mspnp site or do i need one from brain.
2. What is an ignitor and where and why do I have to unplug it before software updates.
3. Are there any issue with this piggyback ms that I need to be aware of or upgrades I should consider before install
Thanks
Totally new to ms and everyone said I had to have stand alone so this was the cheapest way for me to do that. I hope it works out!

If he was using the GM ait sensor, then you would need to reflash firmware in order to properly read the air temp sensor inside the air flow meter.
the ignitor takes voltage and amplifies it into a powerful signal that powers your spark plugs, it is located by the passenger shock tower, you need ot unplug it when flashing firmware because while the software is loading, the ms holds the signal open and the ignitor overheats and fails.
so long as it was working before, there shouldnt be. All functions but idle control as still taken care of with the MS.

God no. You're limited to about 5-6 psi with those injectors.
Point of the fuel pressure regulators is that it raises the fuel pressure, so your 305cc injectors turn in to 400cc injectors. Won't be happening with MS, so you'll be much more limited in fueling. Dunno if you can even do 6psi, but it's definitely lower than before.
Get some RX-7 460cc injectors for ~$80, tool around with those and when you get the cash I highly suggest spending the $120 for an injector cleaning. We have a few discount available from a few injector servicing sites that are MT.net venders.

Here, use this calculator (at the very bottom):
http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx
Looks like at stock fuel pressure of 43.5psi (aren't we actually at 60?) you're good for crank horsepower with 305cc, and 230hp with the 460cc injectors I told you about.
With your setup, 150 crank horsepower is probably about 4.5-5 psi.
