IAT placement reason for richness?

I recently installed my hks bov that I bought from a member from here. It's the ssqv with the adjustment screw in the back. When I started my car, my wideband was reading rich... (9.0-9.6). I tried playing with the fuel tables and it didn't make a difference. There isn't any boost leaks (I used the soap and water test - no bubbles). At idle.. The bov isn't opening unless I rev the vehicle. Does the iat sensor placement make a difference? I have it placed on the hks flange - underneath the bov. Considering my ignitor is fried (RPM idle isn't working) could that play a role? Let me know. Thanks.

Mount the IAT as close to the Cylinder as you can. Even on the intake manifold or on the TB is a good idea.

Having said this, wherever its at, make sure your tune adjusts correctly for it or your placement will be moot.

You should talk to Ben about why we suggest otherwise. near the TB has proven to be the worst location.

Basically, we were all dealing with awful heatsoak issues, and since the ideal gas law code is "broken" we were all struggling with lean hot-restarts. With MSI it wasn't as bad because you could tune the clt-related air density table to negate the idela gas law from pulling so much fuel when the AIT reports hot temps. But on MS2 we dont have the same decay so it would cause issues in boost when the AITs were actually getting that hot.

I like that they finally changed the ms3 code to give you full control over the MAT corrections.

But moving the AIT sensor to just after the IC signifcantly reduced the heaksoak we were seeing after parking the car and restarting after 5-10-15 minutes.

ah ok. Ben talked about that with me. hm... interesting. Ive seen some pretty big HP cars mount them in pretty much the same location despite the location of the TB. hm... interesting interesting interesting.

when i finally went to ms3 and seq. fuel it didnt really matter cause i can idle at 16.0:1 :)

I'll try moving it to see if it makes a difference. I'll place it on the hot side and take pictures. I did notice the bov was making my turbo surge. Adjustment screw was set to how hks wants it to be set. At WOT I wasn't getting my full boost.

The location of your iat is not your problem. Its other tunning.

SSQV will surge. Its normal for them.

DO NOT mount it on the hotside.

I loaded the base map and changed a few settings (engine constant, etc) and it still was running rich.. I'll try putting on the RFL to see if it makes a difference..

What about mounting the Bov on the hotside?

You can mount the bov on the hotside however my experience has been worse since that requires your bov to open even faster.

stop messing with placement and bov and figure out the tune.

I had bov on both sides and doesn't matter. at all

The tune seemed fine until I installed that bov, now its backfiring like a B****. I installed the RFL, same problem. I only touched spark tables, engine constants, coolant density settings, exhaust gas settings, and ve tables. I'll post up the msq..

Yes, maf is gone. Does a fried ignitor play a role in this??
