idle valve on thottle body
Does this have to be connected to the intake tract?
Can I instead just mount a small filter? Reason I ask is because the intercooler pipe kit i have was made for my old 93 that had it on the opposite side... routing the hose to bend around is a pain in the ass right now, and ive had to set my idle artificialy high to compensate cause it just a kinked no-flow mess. Is this going to mess anything up in megasquirt besides the fact that i need to tune the idle properly now? Do I need to mount a one way check valve, or should it close when under boost? |
Yeah, you can just throw a filter on it.

I remember reading somewhere in this forum that, under boost, the idle valve will be pushed the other way and will leak.

It will leak. I believe it was magna that tried to put a piece of broom handle in his and it ended up ejecting it at high speed :P.

Interesting. I've had mine plumbed to atmosphere forever. I should throw the 2001 throttle body in there (plumbed in through the TB casting).

Sav, I think it varies on your valve, I've placed a 1-way valve inline with a mini filter on my IAC and noticed no increase in MAP, it hummed like a bitch at idle too so I removed it.

I noticed a difference in power when I removed my VTA idle valve, enough of a difference that I'd say it'd been a boost leak the whole time.

Set your PWM multiplier to 10 and it will go away.
