Idle valve while cranking

Hello! Still been trying to get my cranking and idle settings tuned in how I like them. I was wondering what the idle valve duty % should be at while cranking? I have mine set at about 40% which I believe would give me an idle of about 1200 if I were to input that into the idle test mode.

Was wondering what other people had their valve set at and about what RPM that would have them idle at since fully closed and open % vary from car to car.

Have you done the full idle output test? What are your min and max values?

these probably aren't exact but should be pretty damn close. Fully closed duty was 32.9 and fully open was 61.9

I suggest you set the cranking values close to the running values, as a first approach. Then adjust so that you get proper, initial flare to about 2000 RPM allowing for a settle down and engagement or Closed Loop Idle.

I use a 4 second Crank to Run taper on mine to allow the transition to be graceful.

In the end, I now have the cold cranking values about where they started (near running values) but the values at hot cranking have been bumped up to maintain a good flare. Else, car will struggle to get into CLI.

That's just the answer I was looking for. Thank you

Yeah, thanks DMak! That's really helpful. Going to look some things over on my end too given recent issues with hot starts.

Ive got some pretty bad hot start issues, but the thing is, the stock ECU had them too... Definitely worse with the megasquirt however. I flattened out my MAT correction and added a ton of ASE with a really long taper at higher temps.

I added a bunch of timing all the way on the left of the spark table idle ranges. That seemed to help as well since advancing the timing usually bumps up revs.
