idle with weird afr's, advice needed.

me and a friend got my 99nb idling and my afr gauge is giving me really lean readings.
we added alot of fuel to see if it helped but it was really lean. Not sure if its my gauge (i bought it brand new from someone here, gloshift gauge) I have my afr settings to custom linear wideband because my gauge was not listed in the drop down menu. attached i have my msq and a data log i took of the idle after adding all the fuel. |
where did you add fuel at? AFR map or ve map?
|
I can't see what youre idling at... all I see is an option to display "O2", nothing for AFR. maybe because of your custom linear wideband
what are your low and high voltage values, and AFR at those values? i dont know if you're using auto tune or editing the VE table manually at this point...but i always idle around 14.7, not 15.x like what you have in your AFR table. that's probably the DIYPNP startup map default for that table? |
unless you break up at 15.x while iding or need to meet emissions I don't see why you want to always idle at 14.7
|
My gauge was showing afrs higher than 20. I added fuel to the ve table and I started seeing realistic afrs. My gauge was blinking 20 cuz that is its limit. I give it some gas to about 2k and the afrs go to 17 - 16 around there.

just a note if its too rich it may read lean on the wideband instead of rich.

yeah, turn on autotune after car is warmed up and go for a drive. dont forget to change timing back to use table
|
what about the engine shaking at idle? what could be the cause of that? how can i fix it?
i cahnged the timing back to use table and i get timing advance 17.6 at idle just like the table. those default spark and afr tables are safe to drive on? |
engine shaking at idle...what rpm is it idling at
|
850ish, if i give it gas to 1k-1.3k it shakes more then stops if i go to 2k and hold. i can feel the vibrations through the entire car.

can someone take a look at my injector settings? my ve fuel table doesnt seem right. im hitting my afr targets but my fuel values are realy high so i think i have something wrong . my car is totally stock 1999.
|
stock motor mounts? verify timing is correct and spark settings are correct.
Take the timing gun and attach it to all spark plug wires to make sure both coil packs are firing |

req_fuel value is fine- VE does seem pretty high in the idle region, but whatever.
I've already ran 10 or 13 degrees timing at idle...not 17 like that basemap, but whatever it should still work fine |

got a datalog of recent changes at idle? your idle area in the ve table is way off, something needs a fixing.

do you smell raw gas?
|
yea, sometimes i feel like im trying to tune my lawnmower. the gas smell comes and goes its not constant.
|
more than likely one of the coilpacks isn't firing two cylinders.
Had same issue |
how do i fix this? i can test it by switching the light on each wire right? maybe that explains the vibrations?
