I'm going lean .2-.4 on the track

I run a steady 11.5 on the street and dyno every time, but its going lean after a few laps into the session. I first though I had heat-soak on the FMIC with a crappy IAT curve...but I'm not so sure the "biggest" begi FMIC is heatsoaking even in 55* ambient temps.

Any other thoughts aside from strapping the notebook computer into the car and getting a log?

Strap computer in and take a log.

any tips on securing a compuer in the car? Unfortunately the power cable and usb cable are on opposing sides so i can't really set it anywhere.

Heat soak on the sensor.

Log to a Palm.

I've run sessions with mine wedged behind my driver's seat.

Use stick on heavy duty velcro tape and velcro it down. Its sold in bulk at home depot.

If you watched Mythbusters last night you would know that duct tape is the answer!

+1 but I have my Win98 tablet between the passenger seat and the door seam. I used to log sessions, but don't bother anymore.

turn on closed loop fueling

He runs MSPNP not Adaptronic right? And you dont want closed loop on a MSPNP in boost.

hustler 10-15-2009 04:47 PM

actaully, I may just buy a palm for track logging.

Get a trailer and truck while you're out spending :)

Just get a SSD laptop or slip it behind one of the seats. Mine is find behind the passenger seat for driving on and off the track. I even totaled out one of my Miatas with a laptop logging slipped behind that passenger seat with not issues.

Pull you drivers side turn signal and see if that fixes your issue.

Splitime 10-15-2009 04:57 PM

I put mine into a backpack and seatbelt strapped it in.

My netbook now fits nicely between seat/exhaust tunnel.

Do you still have a stock pass seat? if so it has the perfect pocket in the back for a lap top. I figure screw the passenger as long as I have my seat they can sit on a stocker.

I noticed this exact same issue today at my first track day. The car was running way leaner though, like 12.5-13 instead of the upper 11s like on the street.

I run open loop in boost so i'm wondering if closed loop is the answer. Are you running open loop too?

+1 for Palmlog. An old IIIxe is $10-15 on fleabay and the software is free. In burst mode it will log at ~19-20 Hz which is about what my laptop does. The Palm also has the advantage of being disposable. The only disadvantage is that it can take some time to transfer 20-30 minutes worth of logging back to the laptop if you want to analyze it with MLV.

I don't think MS and the wideband controller are quite fast enough to do closed loop in boost reliably. Most WBs have at least 1sec of delay, add that to the delay of the adjustments of the MS and it just might be too late for it all.

In times like this an SDS-like rich/lean knob would be nice (it leans or richens the entire table by turning it).

That would have been nice yesterday for sure.
