Innovate MTX-L and MS2 rev built .....

My AFR gauge is suddenly out of sync with the ecu..it used to be pretty spot on but at the end of recent dyno tuning we noticed that the gauge was reading about .5 to .8 higher than the ECU/laptop was reading.

Any suggestions on what to check and how to correct this?

First thing I would do is recalibrate the sensor.

I have the exact same setup as you and my MTXL actually started acting funny lately. Ended up needing a new sensor. But I started with the recalibration.

EDIT: I see that you were mostly talking about a variance between the sensor and TunerStudio. Maybe still start with a calibration?

thanks slm, calibration didn't resolve the problem...

I have been having a laptop connection issue recently so may have changed a setting that i forgot about..

Isn't there a location in Tunerstudio where you specify what type of AFR sensor you have...I am sure i have seen this list before but now cant find it..Project properties just lets you choose "wideband AFR".....

can someone please remind me?

Yes, it's under "Tools -> Cal. AFR Table."

FWIW, I set my MTX-L to fixed outputs using LM Programmer, then used a custom wideband config to perfectly calibrate the MTX-L to TS. Brian has some good starting numbers here...

.23v = 7.35 AFR
5v = 23.4 AFR

that'll fix the offset.
Buut, I had to fudge the numbers a little further to get it as close as possible.

Ground loops and more electrical nonsense I don't understand probably causes the problem.

Also, what kind of connections issues are you having? We might be able to help you with that too.

And +1 to what Deezums said. I also used Brains settings to get my Afr in TS as close as possible to what the gauge is displaying.

Thanks SLM. I figured out the communication issue.

I had turned ON the CAN commands in the project properties in preparation for connecting my AIM MXL Dash setup...

I own a computer service company so tried 4 different and they all did the same thing with the on/off line cycle..after 2 weeks of shagging around I connected an older Dell (that had been upgraded to win 7 from XP i.e pretty old) and it didn't do it...through trial and error I replicated the problem on the newer laptops.

Turns out I don't even need CAN activated for my dash anyway!

Re the AFR settings, thanks I will try that.

Problem is first race meeting of the season and the car lost power and blew out CLOUDS of white smoke....pulled over off track and got told to get out of the car and to safety before I could get my wits about me, so forgot to check oil pressure and temp in the panic.....looks like at least a head gasket, probably head and who knows what else...

Gutted.

Sucks about the car. Sorry. Glad you found the issue with the gauge though.

This. Get Rev's WBO2 CAN module if you want to hook up your MTX-L digital output to your MS2 to avoid all this nonsense.

I didn't know something like that existed, already sent a PM :drool:

I'm keen too. Will chase rev up.
