Good catch. Investigating that right now.

R32 and R36 are for flyback dampening though? If the OP isn't using peak and hold injectors it shouldn't make any difference?

Ben 01-03-2011 08:05 AM

Looks like the entire PWM flyback circuit is installed except for R32,36. This would keep the pwm flyback circuit from working, but probably otherwise would not cause any problems if using high impedance injectors. If using low impedance injectors, you could have burned out the standard flyback circuit which would cause problems.

wayne_curr 01-03-2011 01:42 PM

Ya its not the problem in this case but i'm going to install them just because I have no idea why I didn't in the first place.

Anyway, he installed my working megasquirt from my daily driver last night and his whole engine hydrolocked. Injectors stuck wide open on all 4. This is the exact same thing that happened to me over the summer when the connector fell off of my TPS harness and all the wires shorted together.

As soon as I wake up and eat breakfast i'm going to burn my MSQ to his megasquirt and go start my car with it.

Ben 01-03-2011 02:40 PM

Sounds like something is seriously wrong in the wiring harness.

falcon 01-03-2011 03:08 PM

Ya, something is fucked up. I don't get it though, because I have never touched the injector wiring, and when I removed the TPS connector I individually shrink wrapped each end and taped them away.

I'm going to trace the TPS wires back to the patch harness and terminate them there. Then see if it makes a difference.

When I was using my ECU, the fuel injecting was not even close to what happened last night. It was only a bit of fuel flooding the engine and fouling the plugs. This time, all four cyl were PACKED with fuel. I hand cranked it and it was overflowing out of the plug holes and the intake filter. That, and when I came back 20 mins later there was no fuel in 3 of the cyl, which makes me belive that my rings are royally fucked now and let all the fuel pass to the crankcase.

Your megasquirt works flawlessly as far as I can tell. Loaded up my .MSQ and my car fired right up on the first try in 33* weather after sitting for a week. I'm really sorry dude. I was seriously trying to find a way to blame the megasquirt because honestly it would have been the easiest thing to repair in this situation.

Dont feel like you have to rush my megasquirt back to me or anything. Your MS runs my car fine and vice versa. We can swap back anytime its convenient.

Let me know how I can help get your car running again.

Ok. Well I'm going to run new injector trigger wires. And terminate the TPS at the DB37 connector. My guess, is since the car ran 4 days ago right before I decided to cut off the TPS connector, that the TPS is the problem.

Ok good luck. Make sure you change your oil and drop a bit of oil into each sparkplug hole and crank it over by hand a few times to get the cylinder walls lubed back up again. And make sure you have your coils are disconnected when you're cranking it so that you dont catch the place on fire. On that note, have a fire extinguisher ready too =P

curly 01-03-2011 04:06 PM

Damn, should of made a bet.

You will have the change the oil, that's for sure. I'm not sure fuel in the cylinders is a proper leak down test, so I wouldn't worry just yet. I believe I've seen a few videos of people removing plugs and cranking the starter to remove the excess fuel. Spits it all over the place, but gets it done.

falcon 01-03-2011 07:48 PM

Ya I changed my oil once already. It was like water. I cranked it yesterday too and it shot 14 feet up and hit my ceiling (high ceilings in the garage).

I'm going to bring a syringe home from work and use that to get the rest of the gas out.

Did anyone find a solution to this? I seem to be having the exact same problem. I finally got around to permanently fitting the MS next to the stock ECU and then no fuel pump, bypassed it using diag port, then filled cylinders with fuel. Flashed firmware a bunch of times, check continuity on board and boomslang. The only other modifications that were made were replacing 305cc with 550cc, which have the square plug. but car ran fine until this.

I was going to try a PNP next, but then saw this thread, any help would be appreciated.

There could be a handful of reasons. did you fit larger injectors without reprogramming the MS? did you wire your harness for vtps but check your stock 1.6L tps connected? did you change the cranking rpm to 0rpm? etc etc

ippa 02-10-2011 01:20 AM

I flashed to high res, and drove it around for a while, then swapped the injectors as duty cycle was over 100%. The only thing i changed on the MS was the fuel table, injector ms and then fine tuned it on the street, ready for dyno. My car has always had stock TPS. I figured that i just bent the loom as i was trying to fit it onto the floor pan. but i have checked everything there and it all looks good. I have had minor problems with the MS before tho, where it would flash and as i tried to load the MSQ through tunerstudio it would lose connection and only copy a page or so. I would have to keep keying off and on to get all of the pages burnt through. also popped an ignitor because of this as it was not properly loaded.

ippa 02-21-2011 03:04 AM

OK, so i put in a PNP and it fired up instantly and ran fine. So definatley MS or boomslang harness issue. Next question is what do i look for? Current status of the board is i can connect to easytherm and flash no worries, but i have no fuel pump and also the problem i mentioned above where it would seem to lose connection whist loading a MSQ right after a firmware flash.
