Damn! Nomatter what I do with the spark only cut, my car just like revs up and thats it. Nothing like this!! (yeah bad for you turbo, yada yada, I just want to know what im doing wrong with the settings)

do you have your active above TPS value set properly? The throttle has to be pushed beyond that point to activate it. if i push my throttle partially it'll redline the shit out of it. gotta go wot or at least past that threshold

240_to_miata 10-06-2008 11:36 PM

yea post all of your settings... maybe even a screenshot. As long as you are sending ground to the correct pin and your settings are correct it should work great. i love my launch control

ApexOnYou 10-07-2008 12:13 AM

+1 post up the settings.

Is it not working ONLY when spark cut is selected, or does it not work for any of the rev limit type settings?

cardriverx 10-07-2008 01:55 AM

No it works fine (spark+fuel cut and fuel cut). Its just when I have only spark cut, it hits the rev limit, and instead of popping like in the vid, it makes like a gurgleing noise and slowly revs up higher and higher past the rev limit still createing no boost. Should I have the timeing way retarted? advanced? should I have the hard cut lower (its at about 3300 rpm)?

the fuel cut at -10 degrees timeing makes around 4psi bounceing off the 3300 rpm limit.

ApexOnYou 10-07-2008 08:03 AM

Post your settings mang!

What exhaust are you running? Do you have a cat? If you have a baffled muffler you might not hear the pops as noticeably.

dear sir, why would you retard to -10°? or fail to drop the e off the end of your words before adding ing?

Well it is quite simple fellow sir. I was pondering how to make my launch control better, and in this deep, deep thought, I asked myself what would happed if I retarded the timing way back? Possibly really hot exhaust gas? So I tried, and it my amazement, at that ridiculous timing, it made 4 pounds of boost vs almost none at 10 degrees. I'm not getting my manifold super hot or anything, so I figured why not keep it. I then proceeded to tell my gay lover (I do drive a miata after all) who then awarded me with lots of buttscheks. Because I was in a little pain after that, I happened to leave the e in timing. My bad.

:eek5:

Braineack 10-07-2008 10:45 AM

-10° :ne: 10°

MS wants to know what timing to retard to, you put in -10°.

Telling MS -10° might cause it to 10° too soon, or somethign crazy.

10° = 10 degrees before top dead center. Due to the delay, this should ignite the spark right as the piston starts traveling downward. Who knows when -10° would ignite? when the piston wants the travel back up?

summary: you should simply insert the number 10 in the [ Retard to: (deg)] box.

Telling MS -10° might cause it to spark 10° too late, so at TDC, not 10° BTDC...I dunno. but you should simply insert the number 10 in the [ Retard to: (deg)] box.

Wouldnt -10° give you 10° ATDC?

Braineack 10-07-2008 11:06 AM

Probably.

which is not good, considering 10° of timing would put the flame front around 15ATDC. 10ATDC would put the flame front very far after from the piston, combustion happens late, lack of compression and power output....probably not good :)

240_to_miata 10-07-2008 04:28 PM

stock PNP settings are at "retard to (deg) -10*"

I've been using that value, but I'm not boosted.

Its probably still not good!

EDIT:

Hmm... looks like the stock 96/97 PNP has it set to 5*. I don't know how that got past me.

ApexOnYou 10-08-2008 01:31 AM

I've been running -10* too :dunno:

Come to think of it, I don't know why I changed it. It was originally 10*. Hmm..

That is what it does, 10 degrees ATDC. I figured it would give me a hotter exhaust gat, it does spool the turbo better.

And this is for launch control only! My base timeing is still 10 degrees BTDC

In case you missed it the first five times...

POST YOUR SETTINGS!

Probably not cutting enough events. I did 5 out of 7 and it did what you say. Switched to 7 out of 9 and it's good.

patsmx5 10-08-2008 01:27 PM

Funny....

"Hey I have a problem with my MS. I think one of my settings is wrong. Guess for a couple pages and maybe later I'll post the settings in question...."

Gah! im in Pittsburgh and my car is 5.5 hours away (as is the laptop with the settings)! But, im pretty sure this quote just answered my question, so thank you =)

BTW im 99% sure the settings are 3/5 cuts, -10 degrees, soft cut at 3000 hard cut at 3300.

What I'd like to trade the fireball 2step for is a ultra fast limit.. This is what I was playing with to get pretty close to what you're wanting I guess:

http://jugrnot.com/limit2.jpg
http://jugrnot.com/limit3.jpg

That, will get you this:

The 1-2 Shift was off the 7000 limit, obviously.

Yeah Its still N/A. :bang: I'm close...

cardriverx 10-08-2008 04:08 PM

cool, thanks elesjuan

Braineack 10-08-2008 04:14 PM
