just wired ms2 and couple of issues

Hello - I've just finished building my ms2, everything seems to work on jimstim. I've wired it to the engine. Have not plumbed fuel system in so I've only tested it cranking.

I've built it with the improved spark drivers and used the associated settings (spark inverted). I'm getting good spark from both coils but they are getting a bit hot. Not too hot to touch but close. I'm not sure if that is normal but I've got a feeling its not. Am I maybe supposed to reverse the earth and + on the coils?

Timing light is giving me about 25 degrees advance on cranking @ cylinder 1. I've tried to change the trigger angle setting but it doesn't seem to change the actual spark timing more then a few degrees.

This is a standalone installation in a kit car with no original loom - just pigtails. So its quite likely I've made a mistake somewhere.

You should not be able to feel the coils get warm to the touch when cranking, so something is wrong. Ensure that your spark outputs are providing 0 volts to the coils' trigger inputs with key on, engine off (not cranking). If you read ~5VDC when not cranking, you have a problem in your spark output circuit or your polarity is inverted from where it should be. You should not connect the ECU to your coils until this is sorted, otherwise you are likely to damage them.

You can use the trigger wizard to set base timing when cranking, or if it's only off by a few degrees, you can wait until the engine is running to do it.

Right I have about 2.5v when not cranking so I suspect a voltage leak from somewhere else. I just had it laid out with crimp connectors so now I'm wiring it in properly with solder and heatshrink - hopefully that insulation will solve this.

Can someone confirm the blue coil wire goes to +12v (when key is on) and the black is earth. I have no factory loom to tap into as this is a custom install in a kit car
