Launch Control Activation Switch MS3-Basic 01-05

I have searched through the forums and cannot find an answer to this. Hopefully, you guys can help. I have an MS3 Basic on a 2002. I love it and have had a ton of success getting it tuned well with my SuperCharger.

That said, I want to use launch control at autocross for the starts. But I also want to be able to disable it for co drivers that are not comfortable with it.

Right now, I have it set to with the input on pin to LaunchIn and that works like expected with the stock clutch switch.

I would like to be able to add a second switch on the dash that disables Launch Control completely. I have a switch wired to NitroIn and when I set the input pin to NitroIn, the ECU thinks that the switch is the clutch switch and the clutch position does not affect launch control.

Is there a way to use that NitroIn pin to completely disable/enable launch control?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I have not reviewed my settings in a while, but I have never had LC actually activate accidentally. You have to be stopped, clutch in, and punch the throttle down.

What action are you or your co-drivers doing that is engaging Launch when not wanted?

You are right. It works perfectly with the clutch switch enabled and I like it. I have less agressive drivers that get freaked out by all the banging and popping and would rather just do a "user controlled" launch. So, it would be cool if I could just turn it completely off with a secondary switch.

It’s just a switch to ground. So put another switch in line, so both have to be activated for launch to be activated.

Naturally, Curly is 100% correct. And I understand what your co-drivers are bothered by. I’m asking you for the conditions under which launch control is activating when you don’t want it to.

Perhaps my conventional launches are not as aggressive as yours, but on the street, when I launch quickly, I never have launch control kick in unless I premeditatedly force it to. Thus, I’m wondering if you can get what you want with LC settings and no additional switch.

Could you post your settings or msq, and a log of the car going into low RPM rev limit when you did not want to engage LC.

I think that LC only engages when the target RPM is NOT attained by the time the set TPS is attained. For me, that takes a very conscious effort to hit the throttle hard and fast.

I find it very distracting during rev match down shifting. Hence my switch, which as stated above disables it. I think OP simply wants to easily disable it so there's no complicated explanations of what RPM and pedal position to use or not use.

There is a speed lock-out that disables LC. I think mine is set to 5 mph.

You have a supercharger, no reason to do ignition cut with fuel on. Just so both ignition and fuel cut and the popping and banging will stop and prevent your codrivers from inadvertantly doing a 7k clutch dump.

I was wrong. I tried it today. I was not able to fan my throttle and get my RPM's to go up past the LC settings, clutch in, stationary.

I may be belaboring this a bit, but I wanted to make known what is possible with tuning only.
Before, when I said that it was not easy to NOT activate Launch Control, I had my LC TPS set at 20%, which worked fine for my normal conditions.

However, I changed it to 75%, and now I was able to easily run RPM's to whatever, without activating LC, yet activate it as will... as I first contended to be possible.

Here are my settings:

Here is a picture of non-LC reving up past the LC Rev Limit, worst case fanning the throttle:

Then a shot with hitting throttle hard to 100%, activating LC, then running through 1 & 2nd with a Flat Shift to third:

msg and msi attached:

Of course you may still choose to use the switch, but I contend it is not needed to accomplish what you wish.

Also, Bronson is right. Don't spark cut and you should not get ugly sounds.
