Nice! Seems a bit low-rev for launch control, or was this more for proof-of-concept?

wes65 06-16-2008 01:42 PM

when it works.

Mine is at 2800 and I still get a bit too much spin depending on the surface. And thats with 275/35/15 Hoosier A6's. What tires etc are you running to need 3700 rpm at launch? I want some.

Braineack 06-16-2008 02:15 PM

you assume i've actually done more than what i just took a video of....i do want to find the golden spot for autox launches.

So, it's just pin 12 and pin 13 jumpered together (with a PNP), then remove my FM clutchswitch dealie?

If you mean neutral safety switch defeater, you dont have to remove it. There are 2 clutch switches. The one next to the firewall is for neutral safety. It is pressed in when the clutch pedal is down. The one for launch control is the one closer to the driver and it is pressed in when the clutch pedal is up.

kotomile 06-16-2008 02:58 PM

I forget which one it was, it was back when I first got my Miata (second mod after ripping out the door buzzer). I'll take a look-see and then figure out a circuit to defeat the clutch having to be pressed to start.

Braineack 06-16-2008 03:02 PM

you'll want to remove the FM clip. otherwise it will tell the MS the clutch is depressed 100% of the time, and launch will always be activated in gear....wont get you too far down the road.

fwiw, the clutch and neutral switch share the same input.

then why are there two switches?

Whats the rule of thumb? Fuel cut if you have a cat and spark cut if you dont?

wes65 06-16-2008 03:16 PM

spark cut = flames and pwnage
fuel cut = tame, yet effective.

with the MSPNP i was able to keep the FM clutch switch, the launch control uses the switch that turns off the cruse control when you hit the clutch (the one that is closest to the driver)

only thing i had to unplug was the switch for the transmission that told it was in nurtral or in gear.
I have a 97, im not sure if other years had them. Its to cut cruse off if you full it out of gear going down the highway, if you dont the PNP sees it as being in launch control at all times, if i remembr correctly.

This is what I have setup. Only tested by watching for Launch to light up in MT though. I also just unplugged the top clutch switch and ran a jumper wire... same deal as the FM one... but free ;)

n/m, leave the FM thingy in tact, different signal (starter interlock switch).

but neutral switch still needs to take a dump.
