LC-1 woooows

So me and hustler via phone decided to hook up my lc-1 a few days ago and to say the least it was a success worked great no problems at all! untill yesterday. Now out of no where it only reads maybe 10.14 afr max. So I check all my connections and they seemed fine. Also I had made the led switch deal, since mine didn't come with one to check if there were any codes, there weren't any (so it worked fine) I changed my grounds to a nut that I soldiered the ground wires onto. The power is spliced into the ecu power and the yellow output is coming from the existing 02 sensor wire. Now I've checked my configurator to make sure its on the innovative linear 0-5v 10-20 afr and it is, plus under basic settings, the exhaust section is set to wideband as well.. what is up do you think it's my power input? or plain f'ed up sensor? help me out here I'll attach my .msq even though hustler took a gander at it. Help me out here I'd like to have some mpg again..lol:jerkit:

This is why i hate the lc1. It might be the most accurate for the price, but its filled with headaches. The AUM UEGO is so pain free. I've used both, would never go with the lc1 again unless I got it for super cheap.

I've been told.... Well i know for a fact the actual unit is ok but I'm thinking the o2 is fried, what are some common symptoms? Joe help me out here brain you know this too hopefully... Thanks again in advance

jayc72 06-07-2009 10:53 PM

It was working fine when I pulled it out of my car. The O2 sensor should be fine for a long long time. How did you smoke the narrow band gauge?

jayc72 06-07-2009 10:53 PM

Did you calibrate it out of the exhaust stream?

p51hellfire 06-07-2009 10:57 PM

yea like three times...but it was odd when I made sure the settings in output 1 where on afr, 0v = 10 afr and 5v = 20 afr it wouldn't let me burn them to the controller and there is no real way to check if it's burning the info so who knows..... bu ti will say this when i just pull down the fuel tab I have the option to burn the settings and I usually do but again have no way of confirming burn

it was hooked up to + and neg only and they touched on accident so poof it died instantly

p51hellfire 06-07-2009 11:02 PM

I also have an inline fuse with the power and I've confirmed it's not blow.

Saml01 06-07-2009 11:55 PM

Whats getting that incorrect reading megasquirt or the gauge that comes with the unit?

My first recommendation is to make sure the controller is running firmware v1.0. If is not, downgrade asap, its buggy shit.

p51hellfire 06-08-2009 12:00 AM

i have no gauge so it has to be ms and i believe it has 1.0 if not its like 1.1

p51hellfire 06-08-2009 12:03 AM

how would i downgrade it if it was on something higher

p51hellfire 06-08-2009 10:16 AM

does anyone think the power source is bad?

Braineack 06-08-2009 10:50 AM

My LC-1 crapped out on me once, and I got a replacement a week later. I've never had issues with it since or even beforehand, so I dunno what everyone's deal is.

p51hellfire 06-08-2009 02:40 PM

It has version 1.10 and i looked under the firm ware for it at innovates web site and they only have 1.10 not 1.0, maybe there is something I'm missing on the install procedure through mega tune.

1.0 you can download from their forum, someone has a link.

You sure you got the outputs from the LC1 correct, and programmed them correctly? Using AFR and not Lambda?

p51hellfire 06-08-2009 10:27 PM

yeah first box is 0 volts= 10 afr and 5v=20 afr and yes its on afr man I'm stumped... maybe there is something up in MT... I'll download that firmware and load that in there maybe that'll change things...hopefully

p51hellfire 06-14-2009 02:46 PM

soo the power supply point.. I called innovate and they said it pulls 3 amps starting up does anyone know if there is at least 3 going to the Ecu

Reverant 06-14-2009 04:24 PM

The fuse for the ECU is 5A IIRC. So you are really stretching it.

Jim

p51hellfire 06-14-2009 06:26 PM

ohh cool ok thanks I'm going to switch it over to the 12v cig lighter I don't use it at all

p51hellfire 06-21-2009 06:12 PM

Quite literally I've done everything in the manual, peoples' advice here and an innovate tech..... yet still no luck on this damn thing working correctly! it is only reading 10.04-10.24 afr in megatune, I'm not getting any codes, it's warming up correctly everytime. I hook up LM programmer everything is fine, I'm close to selling it and getting a damn aem uego, please anyone with some last minute help let me know. the only thing i can think of is the sensor being bad, Has anyone had similar simptoms? thanks again

p51hellfire 06-21-2009 11:03 PM

well I discovered that my Lc-1 unit is an older one that requires the 470 resistor... could this solve my problems?

Saml01 06-22-2009 12:17 AM

What do you mean it needs a resistor?

p51hellfire 06-22-2009 12:24 AM

For any LC-1 purchased after June2006, that should be all you need to be concerned with when wiring it up.

THIS STEP IS ONLY ON 'older model' LC-1'S as defined above (and below actually)! Use a 470 ohm, 1/4watt resistor in between the analog output of the LC-1, and the o2 input of the MegaSquirt. So you'll wire the analog output from the LC-1 to one side of the resistor, and then you'll wire the MegaSquirt 02 input to the other side of the resistor, forcing the signal to pass through it.
Blue Box or White/Red box LC-1's (started shipping around mid-June '06) have an updated DAC that does not require the 470 ohm resistor when used with MegaSquirt. Another way to identify if you have this updated LC-1 that doesn't need the resistor is the serial number will be LC11188 or above, or the serial number will start with CLC on new models.

from the diyautotune website under faq>wideband>how should I wire up my LC-1

p51hellfire 06-22-2009 12:27 AM

I have LC07057

Reverant 06-22-2009 01:30 AM

What AFRs do you get in LogWorks?

Jim

p51hellfire 06-22-2009 02:43 AM

now thats the problem every time I open log works nothing happens (as far as readings or even needles) then when I ask it to connect it says something along the lines of switch it off of 9v source or something wierd like that....

Reverant 06-22-2009 08:39 AM

Have you plugged the IN port with the terminator jack and plugged your usb to serial converter in the OUT port of the LC-1?

Jim

p51hellfire 06-22-2009 10:04 PM

yea and set it correctly now I got the bad sensor error so thats what i have to get which sucks!!

jayc72 06-22-2009 11:29 PM

Double and triple check your wiring between the LC-1 and the sensor. On that harness I had to re-solder a wire on that connector. It was one of the bullet connectors if I recall.
