LC1 in stock O2 location?
 

Ok guys,

I am taking the dive. MSPNP and LC1 are going in this week. I want to install them and play with them before I get the turbo installed. I know the LC1 sensor is supposed to be installed at least 36" from the turbo. However would it be ok to install the sensor where the stock sensor sits on the manifold for now?

itll still work fine the turbo heat will make the sensor go bad faster! but the readings will be the same dont forget it has to be above horizontal

nope, the sensor will probably overheat with boost. when the sensor is over temp, it's worthless, plus it shortens its life. several posts on here about it.

My lc1 overheated in stock location with no turbo. I think if you installed it in stock o2 location with turbo it would shit itself.

Good luck, then just get the bung welded.

Mine works fine, but I did install a heatshield on it when I upgraded my DP to a Tony style one.
Been running it for over 12 months now with no problems at all :)

I've been running the car for a couple months NA in the stock 1.6 location. I will move it right in front of the cat when I do the turbo install. I'm not logging tons of miles, so I didn't sweat the head issue. Heatsinks are cheap and easy...like my women.

I run mine in the stock MR setup with some asbestos wrap on it works fine for me.

wouldn't wrap hole hurt, considering conductive heat > radiation?

I have been running mine in the stock location with nothing but the O2 sensor screwed in with no hickups at all.

Yeah what I meant it put the sensor in the stock location while N/A, and then weld the bung when the turbo/downpipe/exhaust gets installed. Looke like you guys who are N/A are running it in the stock location just fine, so I guess that is what I will do.

Nah the sensor is pretty close to everythin i hardly have room to screw in a stock 02 sensor much less a longer LC1 sensor. This + my ceramic caoting makes overhaeting of the outside of the sensor a non event.

I run mine in the stock location with a heatsink and have had zero issues. Similarly I know of turbo'd guys using the stock location and a heatsink and have had zero issues.

In an extreme example the UK only, factory BBR Turbo's stock location is 3-4" from the turbine outlet........ With a heatsink in place he didn't have any issues in over 2 years of ownership.

In short fit a heatsink, get your grounds good and you'll be fine.

I have fitted an LC-1 to my BBR in and as richyvr has said, it is bloody close to the Turbo. I made up my own heatshield as per Innovate's intructions and I've had no issues (3 months use).
