Default More Idle Problems/Possible Solution

So I'm still having idle problems. I'll tune my idle and get it just perfect and then the next morning when I take the car out it will be very rich. So I'll tune that back to perfect and when I leave work it will be very lean. Even when the car warms up it will not retain whatever idle I set it at on my last tune.

I've tried Megatune and Tunserstudio but the idle just won't stick. I've also double and triple checked my warm up settings but it's not the warmup enrichment.

So tonight I set my EGO Correction low RPM threshold to 800 and it seems to be helping. It doesn't stay steady now, the AFR floats between 14.1 and 15.1 but at least it's not wildly swinging one way or the other. It also seemed to stop most of the RPM sway when I come to a stop (it would drop to 3-4 hundred then swing back up to 1500, wash, rinse, repeat.

Anyways, I'm just posting to see if this is a good idea to let EGO Correction control idle. I know the default setting is 1500 but I can't personally see why this would be a problem.

Thanks Again!

I'd bet it's sticking... sounds like the car is heat soaking. When tuning idle you need to try to tune it at a specific IAT temperature. If it heats up drastically, then you need to turn the car off and wait for the temps to go down before continuing.

Thanks for the response!

My IAT when idling stays fairly consistant and I'm not sure heat soak could explain it as it usually happens when I let the car cool down completely.

Any thoughts on using ego correction?

Hmm. I experimented with ego correction for idle back in the day, and ultimately decided against it. In my case, my unheated narrowband just wasn't accurate at idle. I also seem to remember that it couldn't correct fast enough to keep it stable. I think it's better to fix the real problem (whatever it is), rather than to work around it.

I'm going to try wrapping the sensor in reflective tape just to check against heatsoak until I get my intercooler in a week or two.

Typically my IAT reads ~140 but will spike to ~180 under boost. I've read somewhere that they're ineffective at anything over 120 so that very well could be the problem.

Yeah, that could be the problem! Get those IAT temps down. I don't even like tuning idle at 120.
