Default **Not miata*** KA24DE help

I know this is Miata Turbo, but there are some super knowledgeable dudes on here, and I'm having issues.

Friends know of my success with MS and so a buddy of mine with a KA swapped datsun roadster asked for help getting his car running on MS. I said sure no problem, he bought a MSPNP2, I figured we'd be up and running in no time.

Reverant, you are a god among men. Your MS made my life so easy.

The MSPNP came with a disc, but the files were all whack compared to the directions, and the directions were for the wrong firmware version, so the options weren't where they said it would be, and even after working through all of that the car won't fire up..

There are a few things I need to do/check on, with settings and such, but my main question is this:

The distributor apparently has some "play" in it, so the recommended settings may be off by as much as +/- TWENTY DEGREES OR MORE when you set up the trigger wheel in MS.

If we put a timing light on cyl 1 and then crank the thing, we *should* be able to see where it's actually sparking and adjust MS accordingly to get us close enough to fire up, right? or will that not work?

Sorry to ask KA questions here, but all the KA guys are like "HURR MS SUCKS NO ONE HAS LUCK WITH IT, WHY DID YOU WASTE YOUR MONEY".

To note, the engine is supercharged at about 8psi.

also to note, I do have the upgraded trigger wheel recommended by MS. My very brief research tells me some people had trouble with the stock trigger wheels and that is why they made the revised wheel.

You're on the wrong KA forums then. KA-T.org is a good one for MS support.

Can you email me at websales@diyautotune.com with more details about what was wrong on the CD?

I would first confirm the timing is correct with a timing light.

I'll definitely do that when I'm back in front of everything.

The main one that sticks out in my mind is that a) the firmware in the directions didn't match, so setting up the special trigger wheel was a bit tricky as the settings were in different spots, and b) the directions said that all the basemaps would get loaded into a folder called "tunerstudio files" or something, but no such folder existed... There was a folder structure created, but it didn't match the directions, and I couldn't find the basemaps on there.

I finally found an .ini called "MSPNP2" or something, but it definitely wasn't car specific that I could tell.

I plan to just pull the file from your website when we get back out to tuning tomorrow afternoon.

As an aside, I believe your directions also tell people to set the base timing before they tell people to fire up the car for the first time. But you can't set base timing before the car is running..
