Looking for guidance on order

I've got a 94 Miata motor in my 7. Had turbo parts sitting on the shelf for years not been touched.

A local shop Mazcare is bringing Steve Kan to town so I figure I should get off my ass and start working on this.

I have a diypnp that's previously owned. I flashed the latest firmware on it and put on a set of base maps.

My plan as of now-

Add iat
Add wideband
Add ecu and try get it to run.
Then remove the maf
Not really planning to have it tuned With stock injectors.

If I can get it running I'm hoping to swap in 750cc ev14s and have Steve tune it with that.

I'm going to add the turbo in winter when I can strip the bodywork off and try find a way to cram all parts inside the body.

Is this a good approach? I have a bit of a hard time paying to have it tuned in injectors I'll just pull out soon after.

Turbo and stock injectors is impossible (lean) unless you up the fuel pressure. So no, not a good plan. You need bigger injectors before running the thing.
Unless you're only planning on starting the engine without actually driving the car, then yes, you can do that with the stock injectors.

The big issue with changing inj at same time as putting in MS is: if it does not work, you cannot throw the Stock ECU back in to run the thing.

Use Braineack's (Trubokitty.com) base map, not some random one.

But really, it is the same work if all you are going to do is get the car to start and idle. You're just switching steps 1 & 2 below.

1) Put MS in and get it to run.
2) Change Inj, and change ReqFuel, dead time, and voltage curve.
3) Pull the Mass Flow Meter and replace with Air Filter.
3) Give it to Steve.

Only Priming Pulse will also have to be changed with injector size. Everything else scales with ReqFuel.

Just as easy, and you have the fallback to stock if #1 goes badly.

EDIT: Who's going to tune it after you put in the Turbo? That's the other thing you have to plan for.

Thanks guys

Been trying to learn and work out how to get the car to run all stock. Its a bit interesting so far.. Hopefully I'll make progress tomorrow.
