M3PNP Vacuum Lines
Hi all - Electrical connections are good to go and now I am running into the age-old question of which existing vacuum lines do I tie the MS into? I have a 2003 Miata LS, with PS, AC and Cruise Control. I have spent way too many hours looking at NA and 1999-2000 installs, but I cannot find any info on how to properly install the MS into a 2001-05 Miata.
What I know is that I need to run a vacuum from the MS to the rear of the intake manifold. I have a good spot, but I think it connects to the cruise control and I may need a check valve. Pages 39-41 of the Flyin Miata instructions go over it, but I have not read any person actually doing this, which is installing a check valve. Personally, I would never use Cruise Control so if I can easily delete without causing CEL's or any issues I am happy to remove. Others have brought up u sing the FPR, but don't know if we have access to that in a 2001-05. Cut the vacuum line running into the actuator in an appropriate place to locate the check valve. Insert the check valve into the vacuum line, being sure that the blue side points towards the actuator. You can disconnect cruise from the electrical connector, throttle pedal, and vacuum line with no warning lights afterwords, then use that port for MS.
im assuming by “ebc” you mean bov, since EBC doesn’t need a manifold source, just compressor and wastegate. If you want a post intercooler boost source for EBC, you want pre-throttle body. The sensors by the right shock aren’t used and can be removed, along with the vacuum line going to them. |
