Making 10FT cable-cable boomslang - does the 64p connector exist?
2 Attachment(s)
Hi - I am planning to order the standard parts for a MS boomslang, such as:
(1) 64 Pin Male connector (174518-7) (1) 26 Pin Female connector (174516-6) (1) 22 Pin Female connector (174515-6) (32) .040" Contacts (175061-1) (16) .070" Contacts (173631-6) On the first item, this appears to be a cable to board [from what I can tell from TE. I am interested in making a true cable-to-cable connection [~10 ft] so that I can relocate my MS to the back of the glovebox. That way, I can switch the stock ECU back in as needed, without further mutilating my existing harness connectors. This also can mean that I won't have to do contortions anymore to plug in / plug out. Does anyone know if there is a cable version of this connector? It may not, since these parts are intended for ECUs.... I could make a board with thru-holes for the connection to the existing harness, but that seems unnecessary. I guess it's doable... What approach have others used? Thanks |
You can solder wires directly to the pins. Add some shrink tubing and it's not completely horrible.
