Map based AE (rate is set to ms instead of Kpa)
I'll be hooking up my TPS soon for TPS based AE but since I have the option to play using MAP based AE I thought I'd have a go with it.
The problem Im having is that my Map based and TPS based Accel Enrich x-axis are both displaying the rate in milliseconds and not Kpa as it should do. I've searched the manual and also on this forum but can't find how the hell to change it from (ms) to (Kpa) :noob: Anyone know where it is? |
The millisecond value is how much pulse width you add. Which tuning program are you using?

Hi Matt,
Im using TunderStudio. I have a decent enough VE table i.e. boosted regions, cruise and idle are all drivable and give decent enough AFRs (Idle ~13.5:1, cruise ~13.5:1, 5psi boost~12:1) but given the slightly rich figures Im struggling massively with fuel economy at the moment (16MPG!). Some of that will be down to tuning boosted runs and wasting fuel by idling for a few hours so i guess I can't be too concerned until I see what returns I get with day to day normal driving conditions. The milliseconds figure did throw me when compared to everyone elses that reads in Kpa though? Here is a comparision picture. Sorry it's small... Attachment 203352 |

Bumping this as the answer never became apparent and since I've now hooked up my vTPS I want to be able to attempt to dial in TPS dot AE properly.
Does anyone know why my AE wizard has a rate set as (ms) on the horizontal axis when it should read kpa? Check out my screen shot... Attachment 201267 I think this is why Im having trouble with getting AE to work correctly. Also, does Tunerstudio have an "Accel timer units" menu? I want to make sure my AE timer is set to 'engine cycles' and not 'seconds'. Cheers, Craig |
Your X axis is "rate" because it's the rate of change over time. The AE is looking at changes in MAP, not the absolute value.

I understand that, but most maps I've seen have 'rate' as kpa, not ms? There must be a way to change this so my rate of change is over map pressure (kpa) and not a rate of change over time (ms).

Is AE designed to prevent lean spikes when the throttle is pressed quickly? I can not get my screen shot to load...
How do you guys that have TS have yours set? |

Otherwise it's time, (but that time is how fast the TPS changes). You can blend the two in MSII but I've not the foggiest how it works so have it turned off at the minute! |
I've seen kpa used with TPSdot though Rich? Maybe it's a firmware/code thing?

No if you select mapdot, the x axis is rate of change in MAP over time. On your screen cap below, the first x axis hash is labeled 100. That is 100 kPa / ms.
Maybe the axis could be labeled more accurately, but don't get yourself hung up on it. |
