MegaSquirt in Parallel Questions
I have a 92 with the engine from a 94. I have A/C and I want to keep it.
I'd like to buy a MegaSquirt already assembled instead of building it myself. From reading FAQ's scanning the MegaManual, and browsing the forums I think (but I'm not sure) I should get the Megasquirt II and run it in parallel with my existing ECU. This should allow the Mazda ecu to control the idle and the A/C. I haven't found anything written but I suspect if I'm going to run in parallel I shouldn't bother with the Plug & Play. Is this correct? I haven't found a wiring diagram that shows the connections to be done in a parallel setup. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks Vince |
Are you kidding me?
The link is in my signature and atop the MS forum as a huge "SUPER important" sticky. |
get an MSI.
have Scott or Chad build it. https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13676 a parallel MSI controls fuel and spark a standalone MSI can be made to control idle and fans the MSPNP is a standalone that controls your idle, your fans, and AC in addition to all the things a parallel MS does. |

The link is in my signature and atop the MS forum as a huge "SUPER important" sticky. Perhaps there should be an area of the forum for people who are still learning, where they could ask questions and get helpfull answers. I understand that you and many others here are sick of the same questions over & over, and would prefer a forum where you only deal with new and interesting problems. If buying a MegaSquirt, installing it and using it require reading thousands of pages of information then perhaps it's not for me. I had hoped that reading what I did, then asking a few question would help me make a decision. You seem to suggest that "there is a link here to all knowledge about the MS. Read it". Btw, what link were you refering to? I don't see an obvious answer to any of my questions in the title of any of your links. Thanks Vince |

You dont see the link that says DIY MS How-To ???
Click that one, if you can't figure it out from that how-to then it really isn't for you because pretty much everything from wiping your own ass when you're done is covered. |
Oh that link.
Yup, 6 pages on how to build from scratch & overcome various problems. Thanks for your help but as I mentioned I don't want to build my own board. Vince |
Then buy the MSPNP from diyautotune and be done with it please.

Paul, I thought I'd read that to keep the A/C you need to retain the factory ECU. When I talked to a friend with a MS installed he thought I could delete the Factory ECU but would have idle problems due to the load of the A/C.
DIY Makes the MSPNP which handles the AC and idle as a standalone. You unplug your stock ECU, plug in the MSPNP, connect a vacuum line to it. Calibrate some settings. No idle problems. |
