I'm in the process of upgrading my MS1 that was setup for fuel only. It ran great on the stim.....

Intent is to run MS2 and the vvt controller to control, intake cam angle, fuel and spark.

From what I'm reading on the forum running spark while allowing the stock ecu to control idle is not the best solution.

Will I have any problems in trying to control fuel, spark, vvt and idle with a parallel installed MS2. Leaving the stock Ecu to control the fan, fuel pump, egr etc?

Car is a 01+, I would like to maintain OBII and avoid throwing any CEL.

I am using stock idle control with adaptronic and its very nice. 1 problem is adaptronic is setup to output watertemp to the stock ecu as a cold/hot idle. The instant it switches from cold to hot is a big drop so it idles little low until the engine warms up to temp. On the other hand if you leave cold idle too long you'll be idling at 2k rpm until your motor warm hits the temp to go into hot idle.

The only other option that i know off is to run a secondary water temp sensor only for the stock ecu.

I've also yet to see a standalone and a obd2 liking each other enough to pass plug in emissions.

thats because the oem ecu manipulates the spark as well to control the idle.

So what dedicated inputs need to be provided to the stock ecu to keep it happy? Can I not wire in the temp sensor to both.

Am I spinning my wheels here? Is standalone an overall easier task?

By a very large margin, yes.

You need a/frs and timing within stock ecus ranges, you need a maf for stocker within the right ranges, you need egr which you probably wont touch anyhow, you need your fuel parallel to the stock ecu so when it wants to adjust fuel it can otherwise it will hit bottom/top limit quickly and you'll get a cel. Long story short you need lots of playing around to make it work. Probably a lot easier with an emulator of some kind but i have no info on that. Most standalone folks swap back and forth to stock/standalone every 2 years or whatever your emissions is.

Has a pretty detailed work through, spoke (emailed) the owner. He was quick to reply with helpfull comments for my build.

Not sure is this is old news or not but thought I would share. Not even sure if this has been done by a member on this forum or not..... Anyone else seen this setup before?
