Megesquirt Wiring Harness

Hello all, I am thinking of installing a MS1 in the near future, had a good read of the instructions on the diyautotune website, I think I will be ok with the build side of things..

The only thing that is not that clear is, the wiring to the Megasquirt only shows the engine management side of things, I have a 1.8 1996 UK which has three plugs going into the standard ecu, the 1996 systems wiring diagram shows things like the power steering pressure switch, headlight system, instrument cluster and brake switch attached to the standard ecu....

My question is what happens to these connections, the 22 pin plug on my standard ecu carries most of these.

Might be in the instructions but I can,t see it

Cheers

Basically, nothing happens with them. The MS (or really any other standalone) does not need any signals from most ancillary or emissions devices to run the car, so there's no reason to bring those signals in.

As far as the cluster wire you were looking it, that could be the tach, which you will probably want to use.

Megasquirt Wiring Harness

Sorry Ben,I may not of made myself very clear.

The ecu attached to my car has the wiring for things like power steering pressure switch, lights switch and the instrument cluster going into it, the Megasquirt is a stand alone ecu and does not have these wire going into it.

If I install a Megasquirt the power steering pressure switch etc are not attached to anything so how do they work?

Sorry for the confusion

Phil.

they dont, and aren't needed. the PS pressure switch tells the OEM ECU there is load, so it in turn increases idle speed. MS will just be dumb.

For future happiness and e-thug protection you will also want to fill in your location and have your cars details in your sig.

Welcome to MT.net

You were very clear. Those signals are not used by the standalone. You will not need or miss them.
