Miata 1992 megasquirt

Hi there! My miata is a 1992 model. My engine is a 1,8L but is running with the 1,6L ecu, throttle body and 1.6 wiring harness too.I want to install the megasquirt pnp unit.I should install the 1,8L throttle body am i right?I dont know the year model of my engine is this a issue?Autotune said to me install the 96-97 settings on megasquirt. The install progress is a little bit different between 1,6 and 1,8 engines.Example in 1,6 engine we remove the 10amp fuse but on the 1,8 engine no what i have to do?Could you tell me what i have to pay attetion at the installation progress of my megasquirt?

I really appreciate your help!!:bowrofl:Thanks! Sorry for bad english.

You match the model ECU that matches your wiring.

you remove the ST_SIG fuse because for the 90-93 application the AFM triggers the fuel pump with the flapper it opened (when you crank the motor, the vacuum opens the flapper and turns on the pump). So they back-feed 12v to a relay which can then activate the fuel pump relay, but you must remove that fuse or you can will fry the ECU.

Well, you fry a transistor at least. The ECU will still work, but you'd need to jump the fuel pump pins in the diagnostic connector for the car to run. ;)

But Brainy is right--you'd want the 1.6 set up, remove the ST SIG fuse, and have at it. You can install the 1.8 tbody to the motor again (you may need connector pigtails to splice into your harness), and if you do the variable TPS mod to your ECU, you can use the 1.8 TPS.

Thanks a lot for your help!Is something else that to pay attetion?

It's really pretty straight forward. It would be a good idea to read through the MSPNP documentation, but I think you are off to a good start.

If you have the 1.6 harness, then you want the 9093 ECU.

The 9495 can be made to work in your 92, but it would take a good effort to do so. Certainly would no longer be plug and play.

Ben, thanks for clarify. Now I feel like a dumb ass since I sold my MS9093 to get 9495 thinking I'll need it for my 1.8L swap.
