MPX4250AP or MapDaddy?
I'm building up a new ms3x and I need to choose a map sensor.
I'll never go above 20psi. Is there any reason I should get a $65 mapdaddy instead of getting 2x MPX4250AP's for $13/ea from Mouser? |
Never say never. Get one with a higher psi rating. Might be good selling point later. Look at digikey. I think brain got me one that was good for something ridiculous like 700kpa for $14.

i didnt ever think i'd need/want map daddy. and now here i am upgrading to it lol.
but I would think that getting a lower rated MAP sensor would give you better resolution...which might be nice for idle/cruise. But maybe even 4 bar offers plenty of resolution and it's not a significant factor. IDK, i haven't looked into it. I guess you'd have to look into the resolution that the sensor is able to output, voltage wise and compare that to what MS can see |
Same here.
Funny you bring it up. Here I am wiring the thing in as I read. I recommend the upgrade. You never know. Been on 20psi and want more. You can even just use the EBC to keep boost high after peak torque to keep it flat and HP up. :) For example stay at 20psi and ramp it up to 25psi so there's no torque drop. Make it ultra rev happy and get high hp. Just an idea. Again, you never know and it's only 65bux. Plus it has bero corrections. |
I would go with an MPX6300, which is good for 29psi of boost. More resolution than a 4bar sensor, more headroom than the standard 21psi sensor.
|
My car's been boosted for 3 years now and I'm too much of a ----- to push over 16psi. The car's plenty fast so I really don't need the headroom. I'm ordering some 4250's.
Thanks for the input people. |
The MPXxxx pressure sensors are $16 at Digikey.
|
I can even get them locally at Jameco for $16.95. Gotta love living near the silicon valley. Takes 2 days though & I'd need to pay tax. I ordered two of them from Mouser for $31 shipped
