MS friendly dyno shops.. in GA.

I'm leaning toward letting a pro handle my MS tuning.. are there any good dyno shops in Georgia (or possibly SC, north FL) that could tune MS? I'm in Kuwait now but I'll be back in Augusta by November.

Also, suppose I drive over there with the MS and 460cc injectors in the trunk and swap the injectors and ECU, and hook up the sensors (which I'll have installed already). Viable plan?

get in touch with FoundSoul (Jerry of diyautotune.com)

Ok, thanks, hopefully he'll see this thread... I'd call him but I don't think he'd appreciate me calling when I'd be able to call at the moment..

The local guy I had been referring people to just changed jobs and is at another shop now that doesn't have a load bearing dyno. He could still likely do a fair job for you as he's tuning cars all the time and does at least have an inertia dyno, but there's no substitute for a good steady state dyno. The shop where he used to work still has the dyno but they don't have a tuner lined up yet-- they're working on it. Get in touch with me when you get back in town and I'll try and help you find the best option around here.

also maybe we can all get together one day when you're back in country. there's plenty of FI miata guys around here, including an ever growing population of MS + turbo miatas. My MS map should be 80-90% of what yours should be, so you wouldn't need much dyno time at all...

The only local tuner I know who comes with his own dyno (:)) is not a big fan of MS. I'm sure he'd do it, but he's not a fan.

Fantastic idea, I still have a lot of reading to do on MS but it would be amazingly helpful to have someone help out, especially since you seem to have a very similar setup.

I'm getting back early October, but going on leave and doing various things around newly purchased house for a bit. How's November work for you? :skid:

Ben 08-11-2007 08:45 PM

:dunno: ask again in November. It's kinda far away.
Congrats on the house!

(I'm sure something could be worked out)

kotomile 08-11-2007 08:53 PM

Thanks!

Just trying to give plenty of notice.

Back from semi-deadness!

Ben - It would still be absolutely epic if we could get together and figure this thing out sometime in NOV, even though I have the PNP now so it should be easier, and I've been RTFM at work (slow this week, all the agencies are on vacation). I'll buy you a case of your favorite brew..?

magnamx-5 09-03-2007 03:49 PM

Did some one say beer :D

Ben 09-03-2007 04:10 PM

uhm I don't quite get what you're asking... If you're verifying that I'll still help you in Nov, yeah I'll still help you in Nov. But it's still 2 months out.

Maybe DIY Autotune will have their dyno by then :dunno:

kotomile 09-03-2007 04:59 PM

Yeah man just verifying. I know it's a ways off but just trying to get everything lined up, ya know? If DIY had their dyno by then... dyno day?

Magna - yes, I said beer :)

magnamx-5 09-03-2007 05:22 PM

hooray beer Koto i think you are makeing to much stress on this MS is simple and you are in the Nexus of the DIY autotune world. You car will be fast and reliable just like Ben and 93 LE. ;) Now get your ass home safe from sand land.

kotomile 09-03-2007 05:53 PM

Ahh well you know, new territory, first EMS for me so if someone who knew what they were doing was there, if only to drink a cold one and supervise, it would help immensely. Don't get me wrong, the PNP seems simple enough if reading the manual is any indicator. I'm just paranoid :p

I'm also trying to decide... 12 or 15 psi..

Ben 09-03-2007 05:53 PM

Yeah, as long as you're coming north to me, and not expecting me to go south to you. Most boringest 2.15 drive EVAR. OK, not as boring as Texas but still.

Roll up on the stock ecu and we'll go thru the whole install procedure at my place, road tune, and hopefully then dyno tune.

kotomile 09-03-2007 05:55 PM

Yeah doing it in ATL makes sense, shorter drive to the dyno :)
