MS-II - Let's see how it goes...

I ordered two MS-II units today from DIYautotune for my 2002 and for my boss' Toyota AE86 drift car. I'll let you guys know how it goes once I get to it.

Great! Looking forward to your quality input!

Should be awesome. AbeFM is also going MSII on his NB. Are you going to use the stock NB cam/crank sensors with that circuit you spoke of building?

Reverant 12-15-2007 05:19 AM

I'll try MS-II Extra with the experimental 99-00 wheel support first and see if that works out. If it doesnt and James/Ken are too busy to bother, I'll try my circuit instead. I currently have no idea if James' code needs the cam signal to be in perfect sync (degrees) in relation to the crank signal, but if it does, that will be a problem as I have VVT and that fucks up the whole show (in which case I will need to use my circuit instead).

Looking forward to seeing how you get on matey. Wish Christmas would hurry up and go away then I can afford a MSII daughterboard!

I actually ordered a new unassembled unit plus the harness, I want to make a fresh start. :)

Jim, does the MSII use the cam sensor as a sync only or does it affect spark timing?

I'd prefer to do that myself too, and then sell the current one. needs even more £££ though ;(

I really have no idea. I have to read the source myself to determine.

I wouldn't do it, the boss paid me off with an MS2 to have his Corolla AE86 MSed as well (he drove my Miata and loved how sweet the MS works). Like they say, "Other people's money".

I'm very interested in what path you take. AbeFM and I just have been discussing input circuits for the crank and cam sensors. If I can be any help at all, post or PM.

Have you put your O-scope on the VVT signal yet?

Y8S, The cam signal is used for sync only. The crank teeth are interrupts and trigger "events" in SW.

that's good then. because with the VVT it changes when the cam signal occurs.

Does MS-II work out of the box with the older NA CAS? If so, I might need to upgrade. Get some more resolution up in here.

Have you tried HI-RES I haven't myself. Might be worth a try though.

AbeFM 12-19-2007 11:21 PM

If I ever settle on a cable, I'll let you know how my circuit works. I've got two issues: Not sure what pins to grab, and no fuel durring cranking.

The first I'm pretty confident I'll figure out though obviously I'm very open to advice.

The second I have no idea what's going on!
