MS Launch Control

So whats everyone's setting for their launch control ?

This should be a good thread for someone that doesnt know much about luanch control or what to set it to.

Mostly interested in what people use on their miata's, Fuel Cut, Spark or Both... and why ?

Also what do you guys set your Ign. Retard to, with how much boost?

musanovic 04-22-2008 02:51 PM

good point to start is

do a search before posting

How about you get your motor running right and tuned before dicking with launch control?

01TurboMiata 04-22-2008 04:15 PM

well lets see i did so and read that and i wanted to start a thread that was about launch control setting and what people think not how to wire it up in the board and such.........

Also no one in that thread posted the thoughts on what to cut for the launch control, spark, fuel, or both.

Used it for all my launches at the autocross today. I have it cutting fuel and spark, 5 degrees I believe at 3000 rpm. Works great so have some fun with it.\

Mine are:

Start retarding at 3000
Retard to 5 degrees
TPS = 30 (I dont think it matters with 1.6)
Hard cut= 3200
Variable= off
Arming flat shift rpm= 4000
retard at= 5800
hard cut= 6000

01TurboMiata 04-22-2008 04:43 PM

cjernigan was the only one.

90turbomx5 didn't say what he was cutting.......

i started this thread hoping to see more than 2 peoples setting's ?

musanovic 04-22-2008 04:45 PM

when you post your settings you will be the third than.

Arkmage 04-22-2008 05:01 PM

Don't use spark only if you have a cat. You must run fuel only or fuel+spark for cat friendliness.

240_to_miata 04-22-2008 05:02 PM

good counting!!

He is just simply looking to see a decent amount of people post up their settings..no different then the spark or fuel settings threads.

Dont hate on him......because remember, the SEARCH feature relies on actual usefull threads, so lets continue to make them.

As for my settings: Im just using the stock PNP maps settings. i turned up the RPM but now its just more of a burnout control then launch control:

Stock 96 Miata...allseasons daily, worn Rcomps for autox:

Retard ign above: 3000
Retard to:-10
enable when tps is above: 75
hard rev limit:3500

FLAT SHIFT- i dont like these settings, use original ones!
arming : 6000
retard above: 5000
retard to : -10
hard rev limit:5500
I believe im cutting both fuel and spark

01TurboMiata 04-22-2008 05:54 PM

thank you for understanding what im trying to do.

Running No CAT here =]

well, in that case spark only should give you a better response and that nifty bang bang out of the tailpipe.

01TurboMiata 04-22-2008 06:52 PM

ive also heard that all three of them act dif.

ones fast and the other is a slower type ?

cjernigan 04-22-2008 08:35 PM

Fuel cut is harsh, fuel and spark cut is smoother, spark cut set at 5* doesn't hold me at my launch limit RPM for some reason. It continues to climb towards redline, though slower it continues to climb. Might have to retard more like 10 degrees when using spark cut.

01TurboMiata 04-23-2008 11:54 AM

i figured fuel cut would be harsh =/.

cjernigan 04-23-2008 12:05 PM

By harsh i mean it makes my car buck like crazy, feels like you just blew your motor.

when you say 5* u mean that -5 is typed in correct? i have -10 typed in...because that is what the stock pnp map had

cjernigan 04-23-2008 12:22 PM

I don't remember truthfully, i can look later. Use what works.

01TurboMiata 04-23-2008 12:29 PM

i though the "-" wasnt needed because it doing retard no matter what ?

240_to_miata 04-23-2008 12:32 PM

its needed because it says "retard to" , im just goin with that cause thats what the pnp map has

cjernigan 04-23-2008 12:33 PM

That was my thought on it as well.

01TurboMiata 04-23-2008 12:35 PM

oh well my PNP came with "5" as the stock setting.

01TurboMiata 04-23-2008 12:37 PM

also has anyone played with the cut 'N' sparks out of base number? and base number to cut sparks from ?

cjernigan 04-23-2008 12:39 PM

How about you play with it so you understand what it does.

01TurboMiata 04-23-2008 12:41 PM

cant cause i dont have a laptop near me right now, so i figured i would ask if anyone has done so yet ?

01TurboMiata 04-23-2008 01:01 PM

Same happenes to me, Do you think more retard will solve that and make the backfire that cause the turbo to spool?

Clutch

01TurboMiata 04-23-2008 01:41 PM

you dont have issues when shifting and such ?

well the only problem I could see is trying to rev match downshift at high rpm, ill problaly end up doing a external switch at some point.

install a linear TPS and set your LC active point to 70% or greater... I don't know about you but I've never had to floor the throttle to rev match.

01TurboMiata 04-23-2008 02:20 PM

good point,

240_to_miata 04-23-2008 02:21 PM

or learn how to double clutch! its natural for me now, so im never pressing the throttle while the switch is engaged :)

Yeah I could do that too.

So anyone have any ideas on getting antilag to work right?

01TurboMiata 04-24-2008 10:37 AM

what you mean to work right ?
