MS West Coast Meet
The MS West Coast Meet was a blast!! I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Jerry Hoffman of DIYAutotune who did my tuning on the dyno together with Ken from Maryland and Vincent and the rest of the guys from Spectre Perfomance.
We all got free lunch, bottomless drinks, free snacks, dynotune, t-shirts and stickers. There was quite a good turnout of miatas sporting megasquirt. Many, many thanks to Jerry!!! |
What kinda numbers did you pull out of the 1.6?

That sounds as if it would have been sweet, to bad us east coast guys don't get shit like that. BTW Jerry rules. His shop is right next to my buddies. I talked to him about megasquirts well he was working on the PNP and even answered all my PNP question about it. |

I came to the meet with a setup that did not have any kind of tuning at all and left with something very liveable. The car can now idle steady at 800rpm and or even below that. The car pulls nice and hard to a certain degree. I can now drive it because motor develops good vacuum and so my brakes work now. VE and spark are good to about 500 rpm. It definitely needs more tuning. I am extremely happy and grateful that Jerry was patient with the car. Thanks so much again, Jerry!!! |
Thanks again to Jerry and the guys at Spectre for hosting the event. I was there on Friday, and they pulled another 6rwhp out of my car, as well as 8lb.ft of torque average across the entire powerband. It even idles better. RdSnake, if you want to compare to a Dynojet, I had my car on one a couple of weeks ago and it put down 198rwhp. My baseline at Spectre was 158rwhp, and I ended at 164hp/162tq. Torque peak at 3000rpm, with 90% available at 6000rpm. This thing pulls like a motherfucker. :D

Ya'll did much better than I did. I've always had an occasional misfire, but it really came out on the dyno. It even put some flames out the exhaust once. Thanks to all the folks that RD mentioned, it really was a quality group of folks.
On the plus side, the car drove fine back to Vegas and got 28 mpg with the air on. Could be worse. |
Mike:
It was a pleasure to meet you. Definitely a memorable day for me. Gil |
Based on the baseline testing of Savington's car and that comparison against the Dynojet numbers that's a 20% difference compared to this particular Mustang, so RDSnake, your car on a Dynojet would be right near 100whp/wtq. I'm sure it felt pretty good...
Most of your map was dialed in fairly well, but we did get rushed towards the end so WOT could have been worked on a bit more and we could have improved max power a bit more than likely as well as average power/torque I bet... but we were getting it close when we had to shut down. As for driveability I'm betting if you're noticed anything there it's that we turned off AE while tuning and didn't get back together after dinner to turn it back on and dial it in. BTW AE will need some tuning... It's not that hard to dial in if you know what it should feel like... I'd start by setting the MapDot Threshold to 100 and make sure it's not kicking in under steady accell. Note until it's tuned it may feel worse when you do this as it will enable AE again and if the current settings are rich it will stumble when you hit the throttle-- we can help via email with datalogs and msqs as long as wideband is in there to help you dial it in. |
Jerry:
Ill email you on the AE. Thanks again!! Gil |
anytime this gonna happen again in the near future?
|
Nothing scheduled yet-- but we'll do 1 or 2 meets again next year. Spring is usually when we do the East Coast meet, and this was the first year we've done a West Coast meet but I suspect it will happen again. It's always announced on the MS forums, but I'll try to pass the word on here.
|
I guess I should join the MS forums.
