MS1 on 99 NB - TPS connection

With thanks to Zaphoid for the 99-00 MS-1 schematic I now have my 5 happily running a parellel install for fuel and ignition only with a relatively good tune throughout.

However, I'm currently running my MS without a TPS signal - opting to use map based AE for the time being but now my car is up and running well I want the precision of TPS AE.

Do I simply splice the DB37 TPS wire to the stock ECU TPS signal wire and then just calibrate open/closed voltages in TunerStudio and switch the AE from MAP based to TPS based? Do I need to connect up the DB37 VRef at all?

Here is my guide from Zaphoid on how It's all currently installed (Note there is no VRef wire, although I do have it on my DB37)...

Thanks!

just splice it in like normal. It doesnt suck much current so your stock ECU wont throw a code.

I dont know if this is the same Craigo looking after the Gotech nutz thread. If it is you a big thank for keeping the thread alive. I have personal dealings with EP and the experience has been horiffic. I cant beleive companies like that exist and the way they mistreat customers.

Anyway. I see you have sucessfully inplemented the MS1 to the 99 nb model which is also the car i have. Am I right in thinking that the MS1 can only choose either the MAP or TPS?

Have you installed this with a VR 36-1 trigger wheel or using the stock sensor?

Many thanks

ninja

MSI can only choose MAP or TPS, and it cant use stock sensors. MSII can use stock sensors and a mixture of MAP and TPS accel enrichment.

Thanks for the info Mark. I take it I just leave the VRef alone, splce the TPS and then simply calibrate the closed/fully open voltages in TunerStudio? (I hope it's that simple! ;) )

I followed the above schematic to the book apart from choosing to install the additional GM IAT and CLT sensors solely for the MS. I also installed the earlier model cam sensor on the exhaust cam.

Hi Ninja, Iam the same person who is also on the Nutz forum. The confusion might be that my car is a UK spec 98NB model, which is the same as a US 99-00NB.
I can certainly recommend the MS-1, even on the NB model. I know you had a lot of issue with the Go-Tech ECU. Im enjoying the MS and it's simple to tune with once hooked up.

EP is holding my stock parts ransom and forcing me to post a good feedback after having spent almost 2k with them. He thinks he has done a good job on the car?

With the megasquirt 1 are you running it with 36-1 trigger wheel with forced induction?

I like to follow your direction with the MS1 or MS2 Would you be able to post your maps/ settings?

Craigo has fitted a Mk1 CAS to provide cam and crank positions signals. He's not retrofitted a trigger wheel.
