MS1 Software and Configuration n00b Questions
 

So, despite owning this thing for a couple years, I'm just really putting the time into learning and installing it. So these are annoying n00b questions, but I really am trying to learn this.

95' Parallel Install

I've spent several hours playing with settings and whatnot on a Jimstim and looking primarily at the instructions in the "How to make and install your own Diy MegaSquirt" thread. It strikes me that things have changed a bit since this was written and I'm running into a couple snags in trying to understand.

I managed to re-flash to HiRes 10g but then realized that the msq I intended to use (from DIY's MSPNP) is for ver 029. Is there a way to alter that file for HR10 or are there better answers? Why is the DIY MSPNP base map for 94/95 for 029 and the 96/97 for HR10? Just what was available at the time I'm guessing?

EasyTherm seems to be quite different from what is referenced in the writeup as well. I can't quite figure out what to do with EasyTherm files and TunerStudio. Also, searching seems to show some confusion on calibration. This thread really has me confused in particular:

From all the searching and reading I've done, it seems it might be best to use Megatune and EasyTherm to set everything up, then use TunerStudio to tune. Am I complicating this? Can I do everything I need with just TunerStudio?

I downloaded the software package from DIY, EasyThem 5 and Tuner Studio. I plan to buy the TS license and would prefer to just use this until I get the hang of it if that's at all possible.

Anybody wanna spoon feed me a little on this? I fully expect to have to start over. Things tend to stick better for me with trial and error. I just want to have a good understanding before I hook it up to my car.

OK, so maybe that wasn't very concise. It was really late and I'd been in front of a computer for WAY longer than I like to be. Let me try this again.

Here's what I'm after:

1. I want a base map that will work with HR10g - Can I make some hand modifications to the 94-95 MSPNP one to just use that, or should I just ditch HiRes until I know what I'm doing? I tried using the 029 .msq with 10g but got errors and wasn't quite sure what to do.

2. I need to know how to configure Tuner Studio to use the Easy Therm .inc and .S19 files. - Easy Therm seems to want to dump them in a MegaTune directory.

3. What are the right bias values for Easy Therm for a 95 running in parallel?

My LEDs don't seem to work when running 10g on the stim. They function properly with 029. Thoughts?

So, I emailed DIY Autotune and Ben tells me this:

Looks like I can reflash the firmware and just use the .msq from DIY for 94-95, or Use the 96-97 with 10g - but I believe the CLT bias is different?

So what are you guys saving /converting in your .msq when you upgrade to HiRes? I know you're not starting over with a new map.

Can I get away with 96-97 CLT correction values?

get it working on 029, export the fuel and spark tables, then up grade to HiRes, load the later tune, and then import the fuel and spark tables.

Someone else will have to advise regarding the temp sender correction, though I will say, none of them are perfect and I would just run with the later year setting without worrying too much about it. Getting the temp totally accurate is just about impossible.
