ms2pnp not switching fuel pump on
i installed my mspnp2 yesterday, and the car would not start. i narrowed it down to the fuel pump. so i've bridged the connectors on the diagnostics port. the car gets fuel and starts. the relay clicks really loud as do the injectors if i run the car, is that normal? and what could be the issue causing the ecu not to prime the pump? thanks for the help.

yes i removed that before installing the ecu
anybody any ideas. I'm really stuck with this.
did you buy it new?
I bought the ecu second hand unfortunately. I have emailed diy auto tune to see if they have any idea. do I need to pull the St sign fuse on a mk1 1.8 UK car? seeing mixed info. I have removed it prior to installation.
I think someone before you failed to remove the fuse and burnt up the driver that runs the fuel pump. you'll need to jump it like you have for now.
does the St sign need to be removed o a 97 though? a lot of people seem to say it doesn't.
no. only 90-93.
so going by that is it unlikely I have a fried ecu? what else could cause this issue? I've seen people talking about moving pi 1v and 1u on UK cars to run the fuel pump. but very limited info. and as far as I can tell those pinout are not anything to do with the fuel pump on the mx5.
the 96-97 fuel pump is at 1U.
You have an immobilizer dont you? UK models with immobilizer the fuel pump is on 1V, so you do have to make a change. |
no imobiliser on my car, im pretty sure anyway. do you have a decent link to a pinout for my car. ive searched and searched and not found anything definitive.
its not really documented anywhere, unless you can find the FSM for a 96-97.
models with immobilizers had different ECUs and all have a different pin for the fuel pump than the rest. 96-97 models have the fuel pump wire on 1V as opposed to 1U. can you take a picture of your (22) pin connector, specifically where the lt. green wire goes? |
